you might want to take it to an oil change place if you cant find it, but it is on the bottom right side of the engine if your looking into the engine bay, almost underneath the car i believe. im just messin w/you you do need to get under teh car to see it pretty much

It's on the backside of the engine block tucked up under the intake manifold. You really need to put the Civic on ramps or a lift to see it and to get to it.

If you follow the exhaust pipe down...where it curves and goes straight back look up above it. The oil filter is essentially straight up and sticking out the side of the block.

If you can't find the oil filter after more then one minute of looking, get out from under it, get in the driver's seat, and head straight to Jiffy Lube or something of that nature

Whats wrong with not being able to find the oil filter? Its not located in the easiest place. Telling him to have someone else do it isnt going to help him learn anything.

yea my buddy who was helping with my oil change(i was at his house and he insisted) we had a great time gettin to that freaking oil filter. if you are lookin for it crawl under the car and go till the engine stops and u see the intake manifold. you will see the oil filter waving at you. i would suggest gettin like adjustable oil wrenches not the one with the ring and you gotta close it in. it wouldve taken us about 1 min to get it off if we had that tool.

TonTon, ignore the negative comments. We were all noobs at one time. Seems some of us forget that. Locating the oil filter is difficult even if you know EXACTLY where to look. You can get a peak at it if you turn the steering wheel just right. That's how I finally found it. Even though I once owned a 5th Gen Civic and I knew where it should be. 5th Gen Civics used an 80 mm filter. And you could change it top side. There was enough room between the intake manifold and the firewall to get your hand in there and reach it. Plus you could see the filter mount between the runners of the manifold. Not so with the 7th Gen. No room between the manifold and firewall plus you can't see the mount thru the intake runners. And 7th Gens use that tiny 68 mm filter. The only way to get to it is from the bottom.

It amazes me how people think you have to be a rocket scientist to change your oil. Just because he didn't see the filter doesn't mean he shouldn't try. I spent about five minutes looking for my wife's Accord filter from the topside before we bought it, and it is my 5th Honda.

If you can change a light bulb, you can change your oil. Only difference is there's a bolt and a lot of black stuff on your arm...

If you look at your owners manual, it tells you (with pictures) exactly where the filter and drain plug is.
