Civic 2004-05 Hood on 2003

Hi,

I have a 2003 civic DX and I don't really like the grey thing at the bottom of the hood (like the picture) so I was wondering if the 2004-05 hood would fit my 2003? I want to go to a scrap yard and find a nice one but before doing so I want to make sure it fits!

Did anyone do this?

Thanks!

Re: Civic 2004-05 Hood on 2003

I believe the creases wouldnt line up and most importantly the headlight cuts wouldnt fit with the 01-03 lights

You could buy a color matched hood molding.

01-03 has a different front end as 04/05.
If you did the front swap, You'd need to change hood, fenders, front bumper, and headlights.

Re: Civic 2004-05 Hood on 2003

I swear, when I was buying a replacement hood from CL. People keep saying that 04-05 fits 01-03.. I get to an argument because I just ask what year the car it was on and they say it fits 01 - 05.. its the same car. It is the same car but I was like NO! different body style.

But who knows, maybe you should try it.

I wouldn't waste the money, unless you swap it all like mentioned above.. It may fit on but wont look right at all..

lights, fenders, bumber all different shape

Yes I can remove the strip but there's going to be a hole and I think EX models have the strip painted the same color as the hood so maybe ill just do the same!

Small hole= bondo, real fine sandpaper and some touch up paint = fixed. or just paint the strip..

Re: Civic 2004-05 Hood on 2003

4 or 5 holes, actually. The hood molding has 4 studs that attaches it to the hood plus a clip in the center if I'm not mistaken.

To add to Kenny's bit, I forgot if you need an 04-05 radiator support as well. That's sticking out in my head right now

Re: Civic 2004-05 Hood on 2003

Right, you do need rad support as well.
It's a whole front end conversion.

If you remove it, not only will there be holes, there will be a indent in the front where the molding should go.

Just paint it to match. I painted mine, can't even tell it was ever Chrome.

Painted the trunk trim piece also.

The coupe counterpart fits, and it's color matched. Also, I forgot about the indentation, so Kenny added pertinent information. Nothing more body filler can't fix, right? XD

I would love to see a clean hood with no molding.
But I feel as though the gap between the grill and bumper should be filled in, if you're going that route.
