AutoX, need advice ZZYZX
it was my first time autoXing for points. done two practice days.
zzyzx, how the heck do u autoX in the night.
the autoX event was at night this time. I couldn't see jack ****. I was just reacting to the turns instead of setting myself up since i couldn't see anything but what was in front of mee. all i saw was the reflectors from the cone.
i was classed in the SM class since i have a CF hood. i know people that still put themselves in the STS class even though they should be in STS
my inexperience in autoX really showed that night. i had a general idea of the course from the walk, but didn't really know where the apex, braking point, exit was since it was soo dark. the guys i knew thats been autoXing for a while(5 years) seemed to know where everything was.
i was so jerky. my launches were horrible. i would launch at 4k, but would be spinning 1st and into 2nd gear.

dont worry about it... it took me a year just to get to the point where I could walk the course a few times and beable to run the course in my mind... so for you only haveing a few events, and then running a night event.
It will come with time. What i can say though is walk the course as many times as you can, then go sit in your car and just try to remember the course in you head, visulize driving it. if you need to or just want to, bring pencil and paper and draw the course as you walk it (yes its legal). or Draw the course as you remember it when you get back to the car.. anything to get you to know what the course looks like..
Technically an autocross course is suppose to be set up so that any one off the street should be able to navigate the coures sucessfully with out haveing to memorize every turn.... But if you want to do well, Memorize the dam thing.
I can still remember a few courses that I ran last year..
and I still remeber what I did wrong when running them....
