New to the import world
New to the import world
Well I'm pretty good with a wrench but I've always driven some kind of domestic, mostly Chevy's. I've worked on a lot of different vehicles but I never worked on an import to modify it. I've worked on and modified muscle cars but I've always known that Civic's are everlasting reliable cars and now that I have one, I want to make sure it last a very long time. I finally got to a point that I needed a new/used car that has never been tinkered with and in great shape and I got lucky that I found this car for a great price. One owner, dealership maintenance from where it was bought, low mileage, just a grocery store runner.
Now I'm only looking to keep this car stock. Seriously! No joke hahaha. The only thing I changed is the wheels and tint. I made sure when getting the wheels and tires to make sure the ride height stayed the stock height.
I really like this car a lot, other than its a bit small for me. I'm 6ft but I do fit in the car just right and also the car is not passenger friendly, unless small folk will be in with me. But the car is comfortable, rides smooth and I save SOOOOO MUCH GAS. This car is a great gas saver, very fuel efficient but got no giddy up for a stock 4 banger. It's a struggle going from a 500hp muscle car to a 100hp unmodified grocery getter. But again, reliable!
So here's why I'm really here. Other than to learn more about my car from all of your posts but because I want to see what I can install to stop the car from dipping. On my Chevy I had reinforced the frame with subframe connectors, new mono-leafs and traction bars and shocks. I've never done anything to a FWD so I don't know what to use on my Civic. The suspension is in great shape, I don't have any body roll but the car dips when I shift and when I go at green lights. It dips both in front and back, separately from going, shifting and stopping. I will appreciate if anyone who reads this can give me advice and yes I will be checking the pages for anyone who might have already asked, if not I will put up a question in the appropriate area of the forum. And no I'm not trying to shift like a race car and I've driven manuals for a longtime but I never had a car dip like this car does. So are there traction bars for a FWD or what is there? Or point me to where anyone else have asked this question.
Thank you very much!
Re: New to the import world
Welcome.
From your other post it looks like you got an LX. The EX trim had closer gear ratios and 12 HP more due to VTEC. Makes it a bit less painful to drive. In my opinion, the sedan has useless rear seats if the front passengers are tall. The sedan also has front seats that don't seem to go back as far as the coupe. I am 6' 4" and find my '02 coupe to be comfortable. The sedan I had for a while definitely felt smaller though.
How many miles does it have on it? Be on the lookout for a head gasket failure.

The car currently is at 66,926 miles and I replaced the head gasket last year. But thanks for the heads up.
