New here, advice with a car purchase wanted! Be warned, I talk alot.
Hey guys.
My friend is selling his 1995 Honda Civic EX coupe.
Here is the low down.
He's asking $800.
Car was previously a "show car". Made by a local VT girl who dumped about $20 grand into it and than it sat for about 10 years when she had a family and put it up for sale when my friend bought it from her for $3,500 maybe 3 years ago. Maybe an old timer on here will recognize it (or is that a saab thing?).
Here is what was in the trunk of the car:

Now mind you these are pictures of the car in its early state.
Bear with me because it looks quite a bit different now. Mechanically sound, other than exhaust and struts, but cosmetically effed. Clutch is also good.
Konis are still on and seem to be in ok condition, bit of rash though. Right door has been replaced (manual window, flat black), and stereo is still partly in tact, no sub system though. No CEL.
Short throw shifter feels very solid.
Lets see, aftermarket projectors, aftermarket tail lights... Aftermarket wing...
I know the engine was built and bought in Canada.
It has a Acura Integra GSR engine, MMR intake, thermal research exhaust (big hole in exhaust though).
Suspension is OK except for the rear struts which aren't too bad, I think the coilovers make up for alot of the bounce you would otherwise see. Ride was excellent, straight as an arrow as far as I could tell.
Brakes are good.
Engine turns over in half a second.
Ebrake is solid, and seems to really be a very solid driving car. I have to get it on a lift to see if there is any rust. The skirts and suspension make it too low to check out, ha.
The bad, bad and more bad.
The insides are still mostly pink, engine bay and whatnot. The body is rough. Skirts seem ok. Front bumper has some issues from pushing snow (front lights are now gone as well) roof looks to have been struck by lightning, but doesn't leak. Rear right tail has some damage and a dent.
Door pillar trim has fallen or been ripped off (not sure how) and the trunk does not close well but does close, same with the carbon fiber (yes) hood.
Looks like she got seriously inspired by the fast and furious craze and went nuts. But I can't tell how fast it is compared to stock, I daily drive a stage 3 Saab that makes about 300hp and it doesn't seem to be very up to par with it on any level. But I wasn't flogging it hard or anything.
I mean I see quite a bit of parts $$$ potential. But I don't know entirely what to do. Seems like a new body kit, somehow fix the roof (crazy bondo sesh, I have no idea) and fix the rear right part under the light, and paint the door).
Here it is now:

What would a smart honda forums guy do?
This won't be my first honda, and I'm been around other forums for a bit.

talking a lot is not an issue, unless they are meant to transmit actual info, which you did - they all relevant.
body work is the biggest issue, they are the most costly when paint comes to it. interior will be next on the $$$ issue, i guess... could easily get to be a lot...

I will likely do all the work myself, its more of a materials, tools, supplies, sort of issue that is scaring me away a bit.
I'm sure it would be a great car to learn on, but even if I did do all the work and make it look like a very decent civic, would there even be a value in it other than what I have invested into it? I'd hate to spend a thousand and the end result still being a $1200 cookie cutter civic.
I'm thinking it would be easier, far easier, to just take all the goodies out of it and than put it onto another civic. But that will require a bit more cash on hand than I have. Do you think the parts on it now are worth pulling off and selling individually? I know parts like these on Saabs, or Volvo's would easily fetch 1300-1500, but I'm afraid there's such a massive aftermarket here that the parts won't find a good price.
