Jap die hard - Have some questions about mods
Jap die hard - Have some questions about mods
I am on my 3rd honda. I love how reliable and fuel efficient japanese vehicles are. I live in Edmonton AB and am looking to buy a project, modify it and join a club this year. I was apart of a custom club in Ontario that met at a plaza every weekend. My favorite car there was a Prelude with a Chev 350 under the hood.
I am thinking about buying a 98-02 Civic. I am wondering if I should buy one with a vtec or import one and swap it. I understand that there are different vtec motors with different displacments and cams. I want the most HP that is most cost effective. I understand how vtec works so I dont need info on that.
I also want to hook up a nitrous system. I need info and tips on that.
I am also wondering about how cost effective a turbo kit is. I know that nitrous and other small mods are cheaper horse power.
My inspiration is a friend of mine in Ontario that has a street legal 12 second Civic.
Any tips are appreciated.

Re: Jap die hard - Have some questions about mods
The generation of civic changed in 2001, and if you want to modify, get the ones before 2001. They are much easier and cheaper to build.

Also i know 96 is when they started using obd2. Does that complicate things with computers and stuff. I will buy a previous generation if thats the case. i know when you are doing a small block swap on a truck you go with pre computer engines for simplicity
