Cluster bulb size?

Hi,

My 2002 Civic sedan has a blown bulb on my cluster around the top part of the speedometer area. I haven't taken the cluster out yet.

Apparently there are 3 different bulbs on the cluster.

007 SOCKET ASSY., BULB (14V 3W) 78180-S5A-A01
008 SOCKET ASSY., BULB (14V 1.26W) 78181-S84-A02
009 SOCKET ASSY., BULB (14V 1.4W) 78182-S84-A02

Honda wants me to prepay $10 each and no refunds if i get the wrong bulb.

Anyone know what size bulb I need? I thought the bulbs were all #74 bulbs. Can I find these bulbs cheaper at NAPA and what are the equivalent part numbers?

Thanks.

Re: Cluster bulb size?

Could not really tell by the part #s ( the 3 watt may be illumination ??) they all say w/socket.

I would get some #74 bulbs they will be cheaper.

Twist left to loosen socket, bulbs pull straight.

Re: Cluster bulb size?

Found diagram online.

Maybe I need a #8 bulb in the diagram? Does the wattage matter as long as the bulb fits?

Some bulbs (indicator lights) are neo-wedge type and the come as a socket & bulb combination and you have to replace them as an assembly.

The illumination bulbs can be pulled from socket and you can replace just the bulb.

I would go with #74s from the car parts store, get 6 and change them all at once

Re: Cluster bulb size?

Yes, more wattage= brighter bulb. Next time you're at the salvage yard just pick any vehicle from the 80's or 90's and it should have the same bulbs. You can get a handful for a dollar or two. Or free if your pockets are deep enough (I didn't say that). lol
