Fog Lights

Hey, so ordered fog lights for my civic, and i searched around and found out that i can directly wire them to my parking lights so that they turn on with my parking lights but i had one question, which parking light wire do i tap into, i checked the wires that go to the bulb and their are three wires one black, one green, and one red. So which one can i tap into that will make the fogs turn on with the parking lights? Thanks

Re: Fog Lights

Just a complete guess, but when dealing with electronics, red is universally the hot lead. Tap into it and try it out.

Ye i was thinking the same but i didnt want to short anything, so im just going to wait and see if anyone knows for sure what wire will be ok to tap into.

and also forgot to mention the the Green and red wire have a yellow line going through them.

Re: Fog Lights

After doing some searching it seems the green and red are both power leads. Still haven't found exactly which one you should splice into but I'll keep looking. Maybe someone else will post an answer in the meantime.

Edit: I found one thread on another forum saying to tap in to the red wire. I can't share the link due to a site filter. If you still want to wait I'm sure gearbox will have an exact answer for you. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Re: Fog Lights

When you say you want to wire the fog lights so they turn on with the parking lights I hope you still plan to use the relay. If you splice the fog lights into the same wires as the parking lights you are pulling more power than the circuit was designed for and risk blowing fuses and burning the switch contacts for the parking lights.

that's only the turn signals. if i remember right, i think it's the RED/YEL wire that has power for the parking lights. you'd want that to go to the 85/86 terminal of the relay. i'd HIGHLY recommend putting a switch in line with that though. if you leave the switch on, the fogs will come on with the parking lights. however, there may be times you need to turn them off.
