Question Bulb options

Any one know if I can replace the the front turn bulb 7443 with a 7440 bulb?
The reason I ask is that I want to use PIAA's Mirror Orange bulb as my turn signal but I can only find it in a 7440.

Yes I have Anzo Projectors up front and the front turn is clear.
The 7443 and 7440 seem to be the same bulb only diff is 7443 has 2 filiments \
7440 seems to have only 1.

I'm not changing the rear.

If I don''t get a answer my other option is to just pull out my rear 7440 and test it up front, if works then I'm in like flin

Re: Bulb options

he means you wont have parking lights. only turn signal. i think that might be illegal. and those bulb are expensive junk. the coating will make them burn out even faster than the normal rated 300hrs of use. i doubt they would last over a year. and they still look orange, its just a lighter color, and the light output will be dimmer. if you want something neat for not so much money, check the 7443 visual style bulbs. they work better and look pretty nice, but im a fan of the straight orange coat. the rainbow ones are only $11 shipped.

sentbacktothesu is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Bulb options

i did the same thing on mine, i put amber LED in where the white 168's went and i disconnected the parking light from the turn signal. looks sweet. the 01-03's have 4 parking lights... so take one set out doesn't make it illegal

Well first of the bulbs were dirt cheep $2.99 so no complaints there.
shipping was $7.50 so if you can buy them at a tuner shop for same price

The look of the bulb itself is quit unique like a chrome yellow/orange

the funny thing is I ordered the 7443, has duel filaments but they don't light up when the lights are on, only when I use the turn signal.
I actually like it better like that because I don't like amber lights too old school IMO. I hate amber ok get it!!

All in all I'm happy with them I just hope the don't burn out because then I have too take the whole ****ing front end out just too change some god damned bulbs

you can't get to them through the wheel well? i could get to mine through the wheel well on OEM headlights. even with aftermarket TYC's, i can still get to mine through the wheel well. just pop out a couple of the plastic clips and pull back the plastic cover.

on my TYC's, i enlarged the hole just enough to fit 921 bulbs in. the socket still twists and snaps in place. the 921's are quite a bit brighter than the 168/194 bulbs. they're 18w vs. 5w

why won't your sonar sockets pull out?

Re: Bulb options

I have Anzo's And the fitment of the bulb sockets are really **** poor, I just wraped electrical tape around the base of the bulbs until they fit snug and embeded the whole damn thing in Auqrium grade silicone.

I don't want any leaks.

Only problem is when I need to change the bulb I have to pull the shibang!!!

Re: Bulb options

i just run the 7443 on the sonars, i dont want two bulb in there anyway, but wow isnt that 18w one really bright? thats what they use as reverse lights. and my socket sits right up against a metal support beam so its stuck in there. oh well, taking them off every 1-2 yrs isnt a huge deal. i still have the stockers on for a while til i get the valeos put in the old projectors and get everything running. i cant wait.

haha i silicone my sockets on too. its easy to break it off tho and just reseal it again when changing bulb.

it's about twice as bright, but i'm running amber bulbs, so it's not as bright as white ones.

the back of my headlights aren't sealed at all. the low beam has a gap all the way around the TSX projector about 1/8" and the high beam opening isn't covered at all. i was worried about this for awhile, but after talking to some people at HID Planet, i don't think it will be a problem. "mikenam" has been running his last 2 retros with the backs unsealed for over a year without any problems. we'll see how my results are though.

you shouldn't have to. i don't with OEM or the TYC. it's a bit of a tight fit, but it's not bad.

ya but i cant see normal people sticking their hand in there. i have thin arms and i still really had to shove in there and get scraped up.

as for leaving the backs open, its just like having really big vents lol. altho it allows moisture to get in easier than with small vents.

Well let me put it to you all this way.
the moment I start having bulbs burning out on me the Anzos will be up for sale and the OEM ones will go back in with a HID kit of course.

And then when the HID kit gives me problems I'll just sell the damn vic and buy a Ford or Buick

i consider myself pretty normal. 5'9" and 175lbs, so not "thin" by any means and i can get my hand up in there no problem. of course, i'm used to working on F-16's where you have to be a damn contortionist to get to parts sometimes. most of the time, you can either touch the part, or see it, but not both at the same time. kind of like these signal bulbs. once your hand's up in there, you can't see what you're doing. yeah you might get a scrape or 2, but that's all part of owning a car.

it also gets out quicker. i have 100w H1's in the high beams that put off some serious heat. i figure if moisture becomes a problem, just leave them on for awhile and bake the moisture out!

those ebay projectors will burn bulbs if you use the rice coated ones. it gets too hot in the projector housing.

and by normal i meant people who dont usually do anything to their car besides fill the gas tank.
