small interior neon problem

This weekend I wired up two 12" neon tubes a friend gave me b/c he didn't want them anymore. They were made to plug into the cigarette lighter but I wired them to my amp (+) and the master door pin wire (-) in a parallel system.

Getting to the point, sometimes when I open the door the passenger light will turn on but the driver's side will not. If I wait with the door open for a few seconds (5 or so) the driver's side will eventually join the passenger light in glowing. Any ideas why this is?

might be a problem with too much resistance in the wires that you are using. try hooking it straight up to the battery with an in-line fuse on the power line.

some neons are slow to power on/heat up

I encountered a propblem with a couple devices recently with wire resistance, and it wasn't that the other one wouldn't turn on for a while, either one would work and the other wouldn't. I'd turn one on and the other would shut off.
