`04-`05 Fog Light Removal
`04-`05 Fog Light Removal
All I need to do is change the F'ing bulb...
Do I have to take the bumper off or what?
Our `04 EX-SE came with fog's allready installed. So I didnt do it, but there seems to be no way to get in behind the thing to replace the bulb...
HELP! I find it hard to believe Honda would make you have to take off the front bumper to change the fog light bulb. But I dont see any other way to get behind it. Does the thing clip in and clip out? I dont wanna pull to hard and break something plastic...
BTW the search button sucks for things like this. the words removal and bulb bring up all kinds of topics...
Thanks in advance!

And where would these two screws be located? The fog's on the `04-`05 are different than the `01-`03. My RSX-S's were held in with two screws from the side that were accessible from the front bumper, but no dice on this one...
I never said it was hard, I just cant believe Honda made it where you have to take the thing off...
I wanted to double check before I pulled the thing off only to find out I didnt have too...
Thanks for your help...

^ ^ Thanks for the help, I'm at work right now. I walked out and felt under, but only felt two clips, a screw and one bolt, but it was pretty far back...
I plan on changing the oil tonight, so I'll have her up on jack stands and be under her then. I guess I'll pull off the bumper if I dont find what you talking about...

you can goto www.handaaccessories.com and download the .pdf instructions and check near the last page. It tells you how to change bulbs.

Thanks a lot, you have to stick a 10mm on an extension up in a hole in the bumper under the fog light...
More frusteration though, the dealership and a web-site on the internet (I dont remember which one) showed the bulb to be a Sylvania H11. We looked everywhere for that bulb, but had no luck...
So I spent $15.00 on one bulb from autobarn.com...
Guess what? Its an H8 bulb and the H11 wont fit, even if it would fit, I'm not sure I'd want it because I'm not sure they would match right...
Sucks to be in love with cars and have my luck sometimes...
Thanks though, I guess I'll just leave it out and drop by O'Reilly's on the way home...

i think these are the correct stock bulbs. They're kinda pricey but says they last 2x longer than regular bulb.

Just for clarification, the oem fog light switch location is directly in front of the shifter, correct? Or more specifically, is there a factory wiring harness connection that is capped on an EX for models not equipped with fogs, or is it a completely new wiring harness if your car is not equipped w/o fogs?
Thanks in advance

well they're cool i guess. doesn't really help with visibility cause they don't really light up the part of the road you can see sitting in the seat. I had dealer do mine. I guess get them more for looks.
Yeah, I wish they would make them like my Titan, I think it took me 15 minutes to install the fog's...
The truck was pre-wired for them, each held in by a bolt, then plug them in. It was intimidating to change out the turn signal / headlight controll staulk on the sterring colum at first. But pull the cover off and it snapped out and the new one with the fog switch snapped in...

I was looking at the upper and lower Column fascia today, and i looks like there is no good way to remove them without forcing a flat head through the seam and prying them apart. But doing that will leave indentations in the vinyl fascias. How did you do it without deforming the fascias?

the upper and lower "fascia/housing" for the steering column right behind the steering wheel. The two piece are snapped together so freakin tight. i don't want to scratch them when i rip them apart. Thats why i wanted to know if there was a way to release the clips holding the bottom housing to the top housing in a manner that would not damage anything. if i pull any harder on them, i think i am going to rip the bottom half; its really flimsy.
I'm not an EE, but i after reading the installation instructions, http://www.handaaccessories.com/civext01.html, (page 13), i assume the car would spit out a fault if you did not connect the switch harness to the Lighting control on the steering column. If the fog lights still worked and did not require the headlights to be on by leaving this connection alone, i would prefer it. Anyway that is why i am digging through the steering column
