parking light signal question
I was wondering...with my hids the turn signal is really dim in parking light mode. Is there a simple way to wire them like the saturn ion where it uses a single filament. When parking lights are on, they are full brightness. Then they just flash on/off with the signal.

i think you could unplug one of the wires coming from the wire harness (car side) and that will give you a single +12v line and a single ground line, as opposed to 2 +12v lines and a single ground line.

well...the wiring for the turn signal bulb is 3 wires. there is (i'm thinking) 2 +12v (power) wires, and 1 ground wire. that's 3 wires total. one of those +12v (with the single ground) will light up the "on" state for the bulb. the other +12v will light up the "flash" state. i dunno if youre understanding this, but i could draw it out for you.

yes that I understand already. So just cut the signal wire and stick a 7440 in there. Then it will light up with parking lights. How do I make it blink?

so the question remains....
how do u wire up a single filament bulb so that it would turn on when parking light's on and will also blink when the blinkers are on?
hm.. so according to the sidemarker diy, u can just tap the red wire that goes to the parking light spot, and it would give u both the parking light and blinker effect. then just wire it to the single filament bulb.
let us know how it turns out gearbox.

^ that's what i was getting at. there's the red, green, and black wires, right? red is for the blinking, green is for the constant, black is for the ground. if you pull out the green wire (or cut it...), then you would have just red and black. power would be sent to the green wire, but the wire goes nowhere, thus powering nothing. when you turn on your blinker, the power gets sent to the red wire in an on-off fashion to make the blinking.
if you wanted to make it come on with the parking lights and blink somewhat out of order, then tap two different power sources?

So are you saying attach the red and green wire to the 7440 and no ground? I think that might work, but how do I make the sidemarkers blink in sequence? I guess I can't unless I hook them up the same way (red/green), and have the sidemarkers stay on as well (which I really don't want).
Maybe I should forget it..
donno this will work or not but ..

Use a relay to change Negative to Positive from Signal bulb wire so
It turns on when you turn your parking light on, and off if there's current through
or simply put another set of HIDs on your signal light

lol well I guess if I put in a 7440 bulb and only use red and green (cut ground and connect red, then leave green connected).... So it will stay on with parking light, then the signal will ground out the bulb and turn it off every flash. It could work if the sidemarker was wired the same way, to stay on with parking light. I'll think about it but that's alot of work for me. I really just need to do a led retrofit cause I don't like the orange bulb reflection. I guess I'll try and work that out.

it uses the other as a ground. I've already tried this with the sidemarker. It has two wires. If you connect one to red and one to green, it will stay on with parking lights. When parking light is on AND signal is used, it flashes alternately with front signal by grounding off the other power cable. When no parking light is on and signal is used, it flashes in sequence with the signal.
Now someone give me ideas. Is there a big led I can buy that will fit the parking light hole and be bright enough? Or should I find a small, plastic bubble or projector and custom wire a ton of leds behind it. Can't seem to find separate amber leds tho. Ugh I don't know anymore. The sidemarkers make this really difficult. I think I'll just leave it for now.

i wish I had those polarg visual bulbs I ordered 2 months ago and never got. They're supposed to be 2x brighter and have some nice ion coating.
