The recent LED lights thread gave me an idea.
The recent LED lights thread gave me an idea.
I was thinking of attaching an led or two inside the doors near the door handle so the light glows through the slits for the handle hinge. And hooking it up so the leds light up when my dome light is lit. That way when I go to unlock my doors the handle lights up. Any comments on this idea?

I think its nice... ONLY
when the interior center dome light is on... Dont keep it on whenever you have your headlights on... I can kind of see it as a luxury addition
I think White or Yellow would be the only colors that would look best (or color of car?)

I thought it was an original idea. I guess I was a little to late with the idea to be original. Still it looks cool though.
The cop will probably find it cool
I think driving with the dome light on is the same as driving with these glowing. I was thinking of possible hooking a relay up so it only works when the dome light is on AND the gear is in park on my car (automatic). Didn't know if the effort was needed though.
So that guy used neons huh?

You could just hook up a relay to run off the door sensors, could you not? Then a 470Ohm resistor in the power wire, and a 5mm hole drilled in that little panel you pull off when you wanna take off the door panel - done and done.
The only issue I see here is running that wire from the door sensor or its terminal points in the kick panel - you have to get it INTO the door, and as all the people who have amped their front speakers know, this can be a real PITA.

How about have it turn on with your blinkers? Like you're using your right turn signal and you have your door handle light up amber with the blinkers?
