The official fiber optics version the BMW's use is kind of pricey, and the unit is bulky. Also it doesnt seem as bright, but it DOES look cleaner.

Projector question
I have found that when you put aftermarket xenon bulbs in the halo projectors (I have 4750k piaa's) that the light is not strong at all. Does anyone know how to wire the lights so that both the low beam and high beams come on when the high beam switch is turned? If not, does anyone know where the headlight relay switch is located?

and the worst part about that is the inverters are INSIDE the headlights. not hanging on the outside.
i really wish i could undo this mod.
but hey, i have one side working. should i go for the blackeye look on my car hahaha

i put it inside because it seemed the most logical and safest place to put them. outside of the headlights, the inverters would be open for attack by the elements, and i don't want to be changing my inverters twice a week during the rainy season.
maybe i'll cut open the bottom of my headlight and put in a diff inverter, then seal it back up with jb weld or something. seems like a good idea? or maybe i'll fabricate a flapping mechanism so that i can easily access the inside of the [bottom of the] headlight.

The heat/cooling effects from inside would do more damage that water/dampness. You should be able to find a dry location on an inner fenderwell.

ok but that still wouldn't explain why one side is working but the other side isn't. i say this because both inverters are subject to heat/cool at the same time. both HID bulbs will turn on and emit the same amount (or close to same amount) of heat, and when they are off, everything inside the headlights (plural) will cool.

yea if they dont light up or one lights up very weakly, its the invertor. i had one invertor break on me for no reason at all, it wasnt even in the car yet. plugged in a new invertor and bam fixed!
I have my invertor boxes outside the headlight wrapped up in electrical tape. They have been through the snow and everything! and if i ever needed to unplug them, i can easily do so.

turns out that it's not actually the inverter. i tested the lights on a comp power supply yesterday and they work. then i tested them against the car battery and it works. all four will work, but only the drivers side will light up when connected to a single switch.
