Amber Glow idea...
I'm not sure which BMWs have this feature on it, but my dad's 330i does. It's very noticeable at night when in dark areas. When you turn on your headlights, there are small amber LEDs in next to the maplights that light up your middle console area in a soft amber glow...
just wondering if this sounds like a plausible idea to do in the civic
figure out a way to put some LED + holder next to the maplights or the plastic part that holds the rearview mirror so you can light up your center console at night. not enough to bother your driving or anything, just so you can see stuff or what not.
if so, how would you go about wiring it? tap it into the same wire as you would for indiglos, so they'll only come on when your headlights are on...?

Wiring is easy, but I don't understand why this is good. We already have domelights that turn on when you get in. Maybe I don't know what you mean.

this is the maplight/dome light setup on the bmw:

up-close of the lights, they're blocked from being to bright, i assume:

this is what gets lit up at night (only day shots, i'll get night shots later):

view looking up form shift **** into the orange light which i'm interested in doing:

possible placement in the civic? hard to wire? how hard is it to pull back the roof lining and run some wires down through the a-pillar?

gearbox, how easy is the wiring? i know you did your AC/Defrost, etc...same concept with the resistors and such?
thanks for the input guys

Would be a cool project. Wiring would be easy, but getting the actual install done right may be harder. Same concept of resistor/LED coming from parking light wire.

Where can I pick up some blue LEDs? radio shack?
If i tap the same wire as i did for my gauges (12V?) what kind of resistor do i need?
sorry for the n00b electrical question?

I got all mine from radioshack (2600mcd intensity). A 560 ohm or something resistor should be fine in front of the power lead for each LED.

The higher the MCD, the brighter
HOWEVER, the higher the MCD the more directional the light becomes.
This means if you get a lower rater LED (in terms of brightness) it will cast a larger area of light.
