MTEC Vs. SilverStar

OK
this post is based on the post "stock vs. mtec super white BULBS," by g33s0n6656.

he's actually comparing MTEC vs. his stock SI's bulbs.

now, based on the pics on his post, seems like it's all depends on ur camera...and the environment condition when u took the pictures of YOUR bulbs...

however, judging from the quality that he uploaded, i'd rather dissapointed with it..

but WAIT, MTEC's 4350K...while silverstar is 4000K

now, LEMME tell you this....Sylvania Silverstar, EVEN THOUGH it's only 4000K (less blueish), however, there are less blue tint on the bulb..

now, the MTEC....granted, it's 4350K...a bit more blueish kinda like...HOWEVER...it might not have the same brightness/range as silverstar...cos' it has more blue tint on it....

SO, WHADDYA think?

anyway, i bough the "crappy but super cheap and OK" APC bulbs....ONE PAIR for $15 out-of-the-store they are 4000K and has the same blue tint as SilverStar (4000K), however...when i turned em on......they are proven to be even more yellowish than silverstar...and LESS range/brightness....

HENCE i can say...silverstar got a good white color (no blueish) and also a very wide range/brightness....
another thing, the HIGH BEAM on silverstar is freakingly much more brighter and wider and longer than APC.....and maybe any other bulbs ...

hope this helps for people who's still deciding right now...

ANYWAY, i'm actually really curious about MTEC...IS THERE anybody here who got both MTEC and Sylvania Silverstar? can you review both bulbs?

THANX.

Why doesn't anyone mention PIAA in the comparison(s)? Aren't they in the same price range?

I've had MTEC's and Silverstars (although I now use IPF)

MTEC's are better IMO. Silverstars are somewhat brighter. Depends on what you prefer, whether you like the bluish tint or simply white.

HM! Really??! you have both???

how bout the range? and the high beam? which one brighter?
mtec whiter? a lil' but blueish?
cmon man....be equal on ur judgement....

i need ur opinion....hehehehe

IMO, silverstar's high beam and low might be brighter...

cos' it got less blue tint......

HM...but it's too plain white.....just like ordinary..

actually, not really though... i drove my old car....they are using stock, there i realize the difference..

Because PIAA sucks. Way overpriced and mostly lasts a few months.

The MTEC to me disperses light a bit. The low beam is fairly bright, but the high beam scatters a bit, but it is still bright. Of course, the beam wouldn't scatter too much if you had projector lights.

The Sliverstars are relatively plain, kind of like a typical halogen bulb with color difference. They are brighter though, but I'm not sure if it is because of the glass tint or the make.

I prefer the MTEC's because I like the bluish look to it. To me, the Silverstars were too plain to me. To me, the range is hardly noticable, and I opted for the bluish tinge to the look.

hm....very interesting....very nice information...this is the kinda information that i need...
disperse, eh? he....is is the same as siverstar?

im not a backing silverstar up, but since that's the only one i got...that's also the only one i can compare with...

since you already know, the silverstar somehow manage to be really2 bright....however, no blue tint to it's light......which makes it so plain...

im also wondering.....i think it's probably the make......the blue tint on the glass are relatively the same as normal 4000k bulb......IMO for example, APC (crap) got the same blue tint.....i compare it side by side....

however, when i turn it on.......same 4000K, same blue tint...but but very different range and the apc bit more yellowish...the high beam of apc sucks too....

i think silverstar's high beam is the bomb.....it's freakin bright..u can bright up the whole block with it...

this makes me wonder...to be honest, i enjoyed the blue tint color on high class HID soooo much.... i love looking at those lexus....bmw.....etc etc....soo cool...

hm, i think im gonna mtec for my next pair when my silverstar burnt out.....hopefully not now...hahahah, i just bought it like one month ago..

^^ Yeah, the Silverstar high beam is bright, but to me, it's hardly noticable.

APC claims a lot in their lighting products, but like you said, I found them to be sub-par. Their bulbs are garbage.

I use IPF J-specs which are fairly blue/white. They run at 5000K, and the high beam is just stupid bright.

MTEC is pretty good, but look at Polarg and/or IPF too! They should be relatively easy to find as well, and the prices may be comparable too!

Both my Silverstars burned out after 4 months. It's very bright and very noticeable over stock but unless you like replacing a $50 set of lights every 4 months ($150/yr), go with another brand.

I didn't have much cash on me and I desperately needed 2 headlights before nightfall so I got me some APCs. So far so good and I'll definitely post if they outlast the Silverstars.

Strange how people are saying silverstars don't last long. I have cool blues from the same company and they lasted almost 2 yrs. I'm sticking with those.

i have sylvania's cool blue headlights and they satisfy me. only thing i have against it is that i wish it shined a more pure white than just white. the white seems a little dull.

I bought Silverstars for stock headlights and they were less yellow than oem h4, for about the same output.

I had Mtec in my halo projectors and they were crisp white, but projectors do not light up the road as much OEM headlights.

My bro got silverstar for his rsx and they're whiter than stock for sure. Almost look like my HID, but not quite. And they still have good light output.

I'd actually like to get my hands on a set of Polarg or Raybrig H4s. I've been looking around for a set, but can't find any. Maybe it's just me being stupid.

I have MTEC 9006 bulbs, they don't seem much brighter than stock. However, there is a noticable difference when you look at it from the outside. I only see a bluish tint once i turn them on. Once the bulb gets hot, it's gets yellowish :\
