How does everyone like their MTEC bulbs?
How does everyone like their MTEC bulbs?
Just curious. I love the Silverstars that are in my Civic projectors now, but they blow out every 3 months. I just lost one the other night and I am not replacing it just yet. I just have a few questions about your MTECs.
1) Are they as bright as Silverstars and same colorwise?
2) What is the wattage? Silverstars were 65 which I didnt think was high at all.
3) What type and where to pick some up?
I am hoping that the problem is the recall that is coming out soon for the harnesses being defective, but if not, these answers would help a lot.

Everyone with MTEC will say they look good. Don't know how long they last. Aren't they from Japan?
I have the sylvania cool blue bulbs and one finally blew after 2 years. I think they're whiter than silverstar.

What do you mean? Cool blues are supposed to be 3800K, white color. I don't know what you're getting at with that pic. Mine is not touched up, but the lights were a bit dirty from rain when I took the pic.
I'll try and take a better one.

anyway, MY POINT about the picture i posted above is that..
u can't really trust those pics on the internet....or the one we submitted..
it really depends on the camera and the settings....they are obviously tricky..
u can't also fix the color on photoshop...like i did...
anyway, I BELIVE that actually, my ST looks like the one that I "touched" with photoshop...

the problem is that mine keep blowing after 3 months not even in there. I got a new set to replace one, then the other went out shortly after. Then in VA this past week one of the silvers stars blew out so I have one silver and the other stock in the projector now. I dont know what the frigin issue is. The silverstars run at like 65 or 68 watts which isnt high at all. I am really thinking is the stock harness that is making it happen so much. Im about to throw my stock lamps back on and put the silver stars i have in those until this recall comes out cause my car is on warranty and i dont want to deal with replacing bulbs all the time, thats just BS.
I am def. gonna put the stock headlamps back on bring it to the dealer and be like, wtf, Ive changed the bulbs 4 times since I have owned the car in last August, fix it, replace the harnesses or something cause this is total BS.

There IS a recall for lights on some civics. Sylvania is OEM quality and should not be blowing that soon. I can't find the thread about the recall, though.
I started a thread about the recall on 2001-2002 Civics and the harnesses being defective. But a lot of people that read it wrote back calling it BS. Well, I for one know its true since the dealership service guy asked me how I knew about it so early and that they would send out the info come April, so hopefully I will get one soon.

I ordered a pair of MTEC, once I get them we will see how long they last. I havent had much luck with bulbs. IN the past 2 years I've gone through 5 pairs.
