Headlight Bulbs
Headlight Bulbs
Hello Everyone:
I posted these questions in the Eastern Canada board (because I'm from Toronto) and I'd like to post it here as well.
I need some advice for some new headlight bulbs. I'm asking about bulbs for my 02 Acura 1.7EL (Honda Civic in the US).
A friend gave my a pair off Showoff bulbs that he never used.
I'll describe the box. It says "Xenon bulbs" "4300K" "Krypton Series" on the top, "100/80W" "H.I.D." "Professional Halogen Lamp System" on the bottom/front. On the side it has a little section that says "Legal: For off road use only". On the actual bulb itself it says "H4 12V 100/80W Korea".
My questions are probably the same that others have had before.
1) Can I use these bulbs in my car?
2) Is the 100/80W ok to use without a burnout?
3) Do I need to rewire for the higher wattage?
4) What the hell does "Legal: For off road use only" mean?
Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions.

Sounds legal, but may burn to hot for the assembly. Try something with lower watt. Don't rewire not worth the time or bulb. Just pay like $25-50 to get the right bulbs.

High wattage bulbs will melt the stock wires unless you buy a thicker wire harness. The bulbs will also burn out faster because of the higher wattage. Just get some known brands like sylvania or phillips. I have the cool blue sylvanias and they're great.
