My DIY projects- Has anyone tried?
I had these ideas some time ago... now I I've got some free time and I thougth about trying it...
I've already searched, and didn't got any results... I start to believe that I got some really original ideas...
I'll be glad to hear any comments, suggestions, (constructive) critics... about this project.
1st:
I think it is real annoying not to be able to turn the ABS on and off, without removing the fuse...
I just don’t like to have the ABS on when I'm driving harder... specially in country roads, turnabouts and track days... Though I feel safer with it on in daily driving, especially on rainy days...
So, what about installing a on/off ABS switch??
I was thinking about bypassing one of the wires near the abs fuse under the steering wheel...
2nd:
I was thinking about another switch which would allow me to turn on and off the licence plate lights keeping the tail lamps on...
I'm not sure about where to intercept the wiring for this matter... Any ideas?
BTW: Please avoid to question why I want to do this... can ensure you it's for a fair purpose
3rd and last:
I have fog lights...
Is it possible to connect them with the passing signal (I think that's how you call it), so that, the fog lights light too when I hit the passing signal? But still being able to turn on just the fog lights.
And, of course I would add another switch to enable/disable this function...
(Cops in here don't like very much to se fog lights on with clear weather)

those are all feesable..i like the abs idea, but i wonder if that would be a problem seeing as how the computer would probably realize that the abs keeps coming and going and will probably turn on your CEL or ABS light all the time. the licensplate idea, the wire to intercept would be in the trunk lid, but unless youre gonna do a F&F move on an 18 wheeler.....WHY?? and about your fog lights, thats been done i think. but basically with a 3 position switch and a relay you can have them (1) on all the time (2) on only with blinker or (3) off.

Last month I was going home at 2.30 AM in a desert little road between pine woods I enterd a well known greasy corner (where I love to play) a bit sideways but on my lane... a few meters after that there was a parked police car...
They didin't came after me, just flashed their ligths. I kept going thinking I was safe.
Two week later I received a letter asking to identify the driver of the vic with plate XXXXX
They didn't had a radar but acused me of dangerous driving... It is now in court with my fathers name (even he though it was unfair).
Dangerous driving? At 2.30AM in a desert road? I wasn't endangering nobody except myself...
A cop friend of mine said that they probably be looking for drug dealing at that hour of the nigth...
Like they didn't found any drugs that nigth, just decided to hook my *** to show some service
About the ABS...
I'm always taking out the fuse and never had any problem...
With the fuse --> normal
Fuse out --> ABS ligth on
Thats a good way to know if tour abs is on or off

BUMP!!
I would really appreciate some hint about these… (Specially about the ABS matter).
Come on guys!!! Give me some help, and I promise that if I carry on with this project I’ll post a DIY…
I’ve been looking in my car dashboard, and I think I can intercept most wires right behind the center console…

sounds pretty easy to me. never made a DIY, but here are the steps I think would be needed.
1) find the ABS wire (should be in a wiring diagram somewhere)
2) cut the wire and take the ends into a switch. switch is on = ABS on, switch off = ABS off. I probably just insulted your intellegence and made a fool out of myself because that is all common knowledge, but oh well. Is it any more complex than that? Maybe the wire would be the one that the ECU sends during ABS. It might still do the whole ABS thing, but you intercept the signal after it leaves the ECU but before reaching the brakes (or however it works).

All of these ideas are pretty good and pretty simple. What's the problem? Simply intercept the circuit you want to be able to turn on or off with a switch. So... Just splice in a wire and a switch. That's for the ABS and the license plate lights. As for the fog lights... You'de have to have a relay go to the foglights to supply them power and a switch going to the relay to turn it on and off. That's it.
I love the ABS idea too, but I don't have ABS. hehe...

I¡¦m a bit afraid about messing up using different resistance wires¡K In the ABS, we are not talking about electric devices, but electronic management¡K any interference on the signal may cause errors¡K
And there are a lot of places to wire the switch¡K there¡¦s another fuse in the motor bay fuse box¡K.
I was thinking of relocating the ABS fuse (maybe to an empty fuse place) and put the switch in one of the wires between the stock and new location.
I¡¦d install the switch in the empty space I have in the left side of the electrical mirror regulator.
There is nothing like trying it and see the results¡K I just don¡¦t want to risk some expensive and unnecessary damages¡K
Thanks for your help, guys¡K
After I try these I¡¦ll give some kind of report¡K ƒº

Just used word to be sure to correct my errors (I'm not that good at english), and when I did ctrl+v ctrl+c and posted, it came up like that...
I gess it's from using a portugese version os office...
Sorry about that

I think the best way to locate the wires is from the fuse box.
I though about trying to insert splices into the two holes where the fuse inserts (please correct me with the correct terms), and wire them to an empty fuse location… Then just intercept one of the wires and install the switch…
Tomorrow I’ll get some pictures and try to explain it better…
