Rep Power: 0 Si Sedan, 2010 or 2012?
I basically have my options between a new 2012 Civic SI Sedan or a used 2010 Si sedan with 16000 Miles.
Based on what i have read about the 2012s I feel more towards the 2010 for the overall fun factor of the vehicle.
I am going from a 2010 2SS Camaro to a Sedan due to the fact of marriage and kids, going to a Si Sedan gives me the 4 door sedan with the sport of the Si.
My question is, from experienced Civic drivers, what is your opinion on the new lower-rev engine? Do you think this will take away from the overall fun of the vehicle? How about the new things available in the 2012s like a premium sound system and sub that comes standard?
I have seen videos of people driving their 2010s with just a dealer installed muffler and it sounds wonderful, scares me to think that i may not even be able to hear the new 2012..

I would definitely go for the 2010, usually the first couple years of a new generation have a few bugs to work out and the 2012 is a completely new design.

low revving but more torque is what i could infer from spec sheet. (Can't say for sure since car is just too new).
Drove them to see? you would be able to tell more than us...

i have not. the 2012s Sis are not out yet. and in my area they will basicall never hit a dealership lot. i would have to put a deposit down to get one. so basically i buy a car before ever seeing/driving it ...

That's a decent price, maybe a bit high but that's to be expected on a certified pre-owned, i live in Canada so vehicle prices are higher here.
I would think that the 2010 would be at least 15-20% less than a brand new car though..

Also, when i wen to m dealership for a 2011 Si originally they told me they could not get ahold of one. which led to me putting a deposit on a 2012. after a little research i have found quite a few new 2011s withing 500 miles of me. Can they actually get the car i want to their dealership from the other dealerships or will i need to go out to these dealerships myself?

Yea the dealership was worthless. I called them and told them abou the availability of a new 2011 Si in New York and he said:
" We can see if we can do a car trade with them, it can cost you up to 1000 dollars though. And we wont try to do anything today, its too much work we will do it tomorrow?"
So i called the dealer in NY myself and will be driving there and buying my new 2011 Civic Si Sedan tomorrow. I will drive to the dealership that was "too busy" for me on Wednesday, get my deposit back and give them a piece of my mind.
Im pretty excited, although I am not getting a Si with the Navi, and apparently only the ones with the Navi come with bluetooth.
Is there a dealer installed Navi/bluetooth i can get later down the road from honda? or am i stuck with aftermarket stuff?
Also, how is the sound system? Mine is coming with 7 speaker premium sound to include a sub

You should be able to order the navi as an option, but you could get something comparable aftermarket for less. I'm jealous of the premium sound, my friend has an Si and it sounds great!

Its good to hear that it sounds great I have A Boston Acoustics system that came with my 2010 SS Camaro and it is hardly impressive..

Quite honestly, Honda navigation isn't that good anyways. Definitely not worth the amount they charge for it. I'd save the money and get an Aftermarket GPS that comes with bluetooth capability for ~$150. And congrats on the new car. I'm a bit jealous.

I just ordered a black 2012 Civic Si yesterday and I am ecstatic!! I could only find 2009 Si's with 30k+ miles and decided to go with the 9th Gen. I have driven a Mustang GT for a couple years and am changing paces pretty drastically. I have always liked the Si's and I had a blast test driving it. Reading what you guys were saying about the 2012 is making me nervous lol. I hope it's an awesome car!

good thing you got the new one. engine specs aside, its never wise to get a 1-3yr old car over new because you never know what the previous owner did to it, not to mention you are only saving maybe a few thousand off the price. not worth it at all. its very easy to destroy a car in one year even. anyway back to the engine, the tsx k24 in the 2012 is a MUCH better engine for most of the driving you will do. the older SI made no power below 6k rpms so unless you like to floor the gas all the time, it would feel like a regular civic. you want that torque way more than hp.

Thanks for the info. I have been told that you can run the Si pretty hard and still get great life out of the car...true? Also any tips on what maintenance to keep a close eye on with these cars?

yeah honda motors are very strong and like to see redline, but other parts of the car may fail early like transmission, suspension, etc if you race all the time. they just like their fluids changed and will go at least 100k before any major service like timing belt and stuff.
