Going for a Test drive tomorrow... driving a LX and a Sport.. 6 Speed.
Looking for advice on do's and dont's on the Hatchbacks. I have been a Mini Cooper driver for 11 years,,, Time for a change.. From what I think I have read, the Hatchbacks have been around for only about 2 years ??? any issues I shold know about.. I know the Civic is a Sound car - just asking about the evalotion of the Hatchback. Since I am looking at the bottom end... Leather is not an option, not all that important to me..
Rev hang on the new MT's might be a bit different for many. I personally own a CVT model (sport trim), so I couldn't tell you.
One thing that I've seen many cases of is dealerships just signing things off on the PDI and not actually doing them: tires still inflated to 55psi and failing to remove the orange suspension spring spacer thingies are a couple I've seen a lot of. My dealership didn't "deflate" my tires down to 35psi.
I know they're not things to look at while going for a test drive, but things to keep an eye out for. Otherwise, haven't heard anything worth noting that would make someone run from a 10thgen. Well, there is a thing about fuel dilution in the oil, but I don't know the circumstances that led people to have that issue. My first oil change didn't show any evidence (sight or smell) that there would be any fuel in my oil. Lots of people have been sending a sample of their first oil change for a used oil analysis, but I can't recall how many people actually had results that showed fuel dilution. Other than that, that's probably the biggest one I've seen out there. Just take it for a test drive, keep your eyes and ears open for things that seem "off," as well as how it feels. I've had my 2018 since November and haven't run into any problems yet.
Riceboy,, I do thank you for your comments... have a few questions, guress I do not understand internet talk.. "Rev hang on the new MT's" ???? and PDI ???
rev hang on new MT's: there's a "feature" on the manual transmissions (MTs) that likes to maintain RPMs a bit longer (hence rev hang) even after releasing the clutch. Weirds people out, apparently.
PDI: pre-delivery inspection. A checklist the dealer is supposed to check off before allowing a customer to take the vehicle.
edit: in case you were wondering about the orange things on suspension springs, here's a picture from a member over at civicx that had a dealer accidentally leave them on
If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Rev matching and orange spacer blocks are only found on the Type R.
Rev match is very different from rev hang, I don't even notice rev hang anymore.
