Re: Clutch recommendations

Exedy or ACT.

Stage 1 is overkill for stock but you can put in whatever you want.

Re: Clutch recommendations

if you beat the crap out of the car you want a STOCK REPLACEMENT clutch. it helps the axles and trans absorb some of your abuse. the clutch by design NEEDS to be the weakest link. you'll still chirp third with a stock clutch.

if you are as hard on cars as i am, you might be better off inspecting and possibly upgrading the flywheel. this one looked like it was just about to come apart and chop my feet off. i replaced it with an SFI certified Billet steel that weighs 2lbs more (more inertia at launch)

Re: Clutch recommendations

also you should be more realistic with your budget. $200 is only going to buy a performance clutch if you buy chinese junk off ebay.

if you up the HP and NEED something grippy and capable of handling much more abuse, i recently bought a ram powergrip and what sold me was that they have "polycoils" instead of springs and there are eight of them instead of four or five. each polycoil can supposedly handle 3x the shock-load of a standard style spring. my abuse tends to break springs and wallow out their perches, which spreads the center of the disk apart. once you get a gap there, it usually leads to the center of the disk stripping out and a car that acts like it's in neutral.
