head unit wiring?

i am installing my new head unit, but the only problem is that i don't know exactly what wires and colors go where. (the wires given are not the same color). i am assuming that the ones in the car now that are taped together in pairs are the speakers but i am unsure of which ones they go to (LF, LR,RF,RR)
does anyone know which ones go where or have a schematic or something.
i have an 05 civic lx se.
thanks.

Re: head unit wiring?

i would say for ya is to get you a Hanes manual. It has everything about that car you would ever need including schematics about the whole car. Try your luck with that.

Re: head unit wiring?

haha that would have helped me. i ended up finding something online that said what all of the wires were. so the head unit works, but now the but my ipod adapter that hooks into the back doesnt really respond. it will show that its playing but there is no sound. is it because its going into the xm adapter which then goes to the head unit?

Re: head unit wiring?

You have to be more specific about what your doing if you want a better answer. Just saying your ipod doesn't work doesn't help us help you.

yeah ok. i have a JVC KW-AVX710 head unit and i also have the jvc xm direct adapter/reciever. i believe that is supposed to plug into the back of the head unit where an external device would go (cd changer etc.) and on that cord were two things. first, a two wires together which were yellow and black (not thick similar to speaker wire) and there isnt really a spot for me to put it in the back of the head unit. the second, an extra line with a female end like the plug on the head unit and i put the ipod adapter that had the male end of the plug into that. i ran the cable connecting to the ipod through my center console and when i tried to listen to it, there was no sound. i could see that the song was being read in the head unit, as there was a title and song info, but there was not any sound coming out.
is that clear enough?
thanks
