Wow. Finally resolved. Hows the car running?

jrock2324 08-04-2004 08:22 AM

I am getting the car back after work today. He had to adjust my valves too.

SomeDoodToo 08-04-2004 08:41 AM

EManEX 08-04-2004 10:21 AM

Man I'm happy for you. It is a great feeling to have your car back after such a long time. Like gearbox said keep us updated on how it works.

jrock2324 08-04-2004 09:40 PM

All I have to say is wow. From 0-80 is so quick  . I did not go pass 80 yet but I will tomorrow  . I am very happy with kms work  . I cant wait to get the dyno done.

SODJAZERO 08-04-2004 09:52 PM

good luck man

xtreme26 08-04-2004 10:22 PM

when r u getting it dynoed?

jrock2324 08-04-2004 10:27 PM

yep. I am trying to get it dyno soon. The guy said I had to wait 2 weeks because they are all booked up. Its going to cost 225 for the tune and the dyno.

gearbox 08-04-2004 10:39 PM

I need to tune mine as well but never have the time. Are you getting the TB bored as well? I get mine Friday, so I'll tell you if it helps any. One thing I noticed is your exhaust ports aren't huge like mine (good thing). Dyno will be good, and it should feel even better after tuning. I'm assuming you have the e-manage or vafc. Good luck with everything.

gearbox 08-04-2004 10:40 PM

Oh and also, is your header port matched to the head? You want the header ports to be the same size (or bigger) than the head ports.

jrock2324 08-04-2004 10:47 PM

My tb is already bore by kms and I have a safc. The exhaust ports are the same as the header.

gearbox 08-04-2004 11:48 PM

Looks like you're good to go then. Let us know what happens after tuning.

cwick187 08-05-2004 06:37 AM

Glad to hear that everything is running...If the P&P is done correct, you should feel it pull like you have described...I know I noticed a big difference after mine was done...How big of bore was done on your TB?

orso 08-05-2004 02:10 PM

congrats. finally somebody didn't get screwed. can't wait to see some numbers

And am i paying to much for my P&P (250)

EManEX 08-05-2004 03:57 PM

^I don't know in your area but $250 is about what it goes around here. (P&P head)

gearbox 08-05-2004 06:08 PM

For bored TB? I sent mine to maxbore.com for $105. It's coming back tomorrow.

EManEX 08-05-2004 06:25 PM

^Sorry, I was talking about the P&P head.

It was bore to 65mm

gearbox 08-05-2004 08:14 PM

Do you know how much the stock bore is?

jrock2324 08-05-2004 08:38 PM

I have know Idea.

jrock2324 08-05-2004 08:41 PM

My rpms are jumping up and down sometimes. Why is it doing that?

gearbox 08-05-2004 09:02 PM

Rough idle :) Probably caused by the throttle body. If you reset the ecu, it probably will go away after a few hundred miles of driving. The ecu needs to recalculate a/f ratios based on the increased air intake. If that doesn't work, I'm guessing something is wrong with a sensor on the TB. KMS should have pulled all those off when boring it, so they may have been put back a tad off. The TPS is the main cause of rough idle usually, but can be fixed by moving it up or down. Did be put screws on the TPS so it can be adjusted? The stock one has some rivets that can't be loosened. I guess you could always gently tap it, but be careful. Also it won't do much.

jrock2324 08-05-2004 11:01 PM

It only does it sometimes. Like if I put the car in park it keeps jumping from 1000 to 3000. Up and down.If I turn the car off and start it then it goes away. Also the engine bay is very hot now. It only take like 20 sec in the moring for the temp needle to be at half. Before it took like 2 mins. But the car is not overheating.

gearbox 08-05-2004 11:11 PM

I noticed that with mine, and I'm betting it's the header. It gets alot hotter than before, which is gonna hurt performance as far as hot air getting sucked in. It got down to 50F tonight, and my engine sounds completely different. More of a throaty sound, and it feels faster. Your problem sounds like a TPS, or one that just wasn't adjusted to factory spec. See if they put screws on it so you can loosen them and move it around.

jrock2324 08-06-2004 11:04 PM

yep. Its alot more hotter under the hood. How do u adjust the tb?

gearbox 08-07-2004 12:00 AM

I just installed mine and no idle fluctuations. Still too low though, so it shakes. You can adjust the TPS if kms put screws in yours. The stock TB has some tamperproof rivets.

jrock2324 08-07-2004 09:52 AM

The place I took my car to said it can be adjusted. I am going up there now. The car bogs down on me like 3 times last night. I dont even have to give it gas for the car to move. If I let of the brake the mph go up by itself
