Re: Dumb oil cap question Oh.... so his Oil Cap is missing the Rubber Seal? "thats why Your having trouble taking it off" in all Honestly for what an oem honda Oil Cap costs even if You get one thats used from a Junk Yard that has the rubber seal Just clean it Up. its still alot better than smearing Oil or silicone on it, and getting it on the engine and then driveing it down the road and having the oil residue burn off it and make it smell like a Oil refinery in Your car :_please: LOL |
Re: Dumb oil cap question To clarify, I meant I use silicone grease, not RTV silicone. |
Re: Is my battery voltage too low? I put the known good alternator on, and it's better, but not fixed. I had Advance Auto test the alternator before I put it on, and it tested good. I put it on and everything seemed good until I loaded it. But when I turned on the headlights, radio, blower motor, rear defroster, wipers, AC, and interior lights, the voltage goes all the way down to about 12, and it will go to 11.3 if I pull the window switches. When I rev up the engine to ~2K RPM though, the voltage goes up. I ordered a 48MM pulley for the alternator to replace the stock 66MM pulley, so hopefully the smaller pulley helps. I'll report back when I install the smaller pulley. |

I need a header for my D17A2 I'm looking for an exhaust header for my D17A2. My DC Sports header cracked, so I replaced it with a $47 DNA Motoring header, but I'm not satisfied with the new header. So I'm looking for a quality exhaust header for my Civic. I don't care if it looks good, as long as it's good quality. Does anyone have a header for my D17A2? |
Re: I need a header for my D17A2 bigger diameter tubes would give you more power on higher revs with less torque on lower RPM... was it not what you always wanted in all your posts? ... have you thought on stock header? they are not that bad... |

Wouldn't a stock header become a restriction with all the other upgrades I have? |

If the stock header was just as good as an aftermarket, why do so many people upgrade? "it comes with this really cool sticker" "i don't need a cat" |

Correct way to add accessories? I have heard that you shouldn’t get power directly from the battery’s terminals on Hondas with an ELD if you are going to install accessories because the ELD won’t detect the power draw, and might therefore keep the alternator in low charge mode when it really needs to be in high charge mode. So since you shouldn’t get power directly from the battery terminals, where should you get it from? |
Re: Correct way to add accessories? When I installed my fog lights the wiring harness had a connector that plugged directly into the under dash fuse box for switched power. You can do the same thing with a female blade terminal, look at the fuse box and you should see some empty connectors, use your multimeter to figure out which ones are switched power. Install an inline fuse. |
Re: I need a header for my D17A2 Stock is good enough. You haven't increased the breathing capacity of the engine. |

Doesn’t upgrading the cam, intake manifold, air intake pipe, and exhaust system increase the engine’s breathing capacity? Isn’t that the whole point of upgrading the cam, intake and exhaust? EDIT: Not in the way you are thinking |

Isn’t the whole point of bigger cams, cold air intakes, high flow exhausts, etc to give the engine the ability to breathe more freely, thus move more air? But what are ultimately the limiting factors? |

I’m not sure what the limiting factors are. Maybe the size of the ports in the head? Ports and valves. And redline. |

Re: I need a header for my D17A2 honestly, they are not that different. the stock design is quite good on the EX. Sure, the DC sports gave more oomf with the stage 1 cam. If the engine was stock, it would really not do much. see comparison below. where the tubes join, is the biggest difference. post #42 https://www.civicforums.com/forums/4...ml#post4702970 |
Re: Dumb oil cap question UPDATE: I just installed the new billet aluminium oil cap. It fit perfectly. Thanks guys! |
