Check Engine Light?

I bought my brand new '03 Civic EX on Friday. Saved so much cash and was so happy when I bought it. I went to work on Monday and was about to head home when I noticed as I was warming up the engine that my Check Engine Light was on. Mmmm I thought to myself maybe it will turn off shortly.

I had only droven 163 miles on it so far and already the Nasty little Yellow Light is on. Anyone else have this problem or might have any idea what it might be. I can't understand how there could already be a problem.

I had a similar problem.

Mine was caused by a broken gas cap(if you read the Honda manual[for 2k2 at least], it indicates that the Check Engine light appears if you don't properly tighten the gas cap).

There are other threads that mention related concerns. Do a search of this forum.

Nah was....

I was still on the original full tank of gas. I hadn't even got a new tank yet. What it was, was a misfire in the engine. It wasn't constantly happening so they just cleared the code and sent me on my way.

FYI sence I am still new to cars...
How can one avoid misfire or do to prevent it?

Brand new cars should not be misfiring, period. What was the mileage on your car before it was delivered to you?

5 miles on it when I got it. Nothing wrong with it now... I am at 200 and I have ran it up to 4 or so trying to make it turn back on but nothing as of yet. Not sure if i should be doing that but trying to think of a way that it might cause it to come back on again or how I did it in the first place.

Have you gotten new gas yet? It shouldn't be firing like that for a new car. Maybe bad gas??

Maybe it is bad gas that they filled it up with but I still have yet to have to get a full tank of gas for the car.. It is still on the same tank as when I got it.
