Question Oil Drain Plug?

I have an electric oil temp gauge from Autometer. I need to install an oil temperature sender somewhere. Our cars don't have one right? So, instead of drilling and welding, I was wondering if I could just use the temperature sender as my oil drain plug. I need to know what the NPT size is for the oil drain plug though. I think the most common is a 3/8" NPT, and that is also the NPT of my temp sender. Any body know the thread size on the drain plug?

The drain bolt is metric. What I would do is get a threaded adapter fitting for it. They sell Metric to NPT adapters... try www.jegs.com or www.summitracing.com. But make sure you get it to seal real well, and put a shroud over the wire to prevent corrosion of the connection. At the worst, you'll waste the $5.00 or whatever the adapter cost if it doesn't work. Make sure you use teflon sealing paste on all the threads.

if you cant find it drain out your oil and take the bolt into a hardware store and try to find a nut that matches it so you can figure out the size...
