Ignition Problem

Every so often about 1 out of 15 starts of my car I have to really hold in the key for a while for it to start. Is this the sign of an impending serious problem?

is this only a COLD weather start? What is your mileage? It could be just a bad ECU code that needs to be adjusted by the dealer. I once cranked 7 times before the enigine started. It was due to a bad ECU code. Now it's fine HOT or COLD. 3-4 cranks to start.

It happens to me also, but all I do is remove the key, re-insert it and it starts right up. Doesnt happen very often though.

Try turning the key slower... turn in to the 1st click, then slowly turn the key till ignition, that sometimes helps.

Yes, turning the key to just before the engine starts makes the fuel pump operate and pressurize the system.

I think most everyone is referring to when the car won't start, period.
