Head Unit Removal in a 2003 EX

I looked at the D.I.Y. for removal of the head unit, but mine seems to be different. First of all, I have an armrest and I guess the console is a little different in the 2003 EX. Need help please!!!

You don't need to take out the console
Pull out the lil panel where the cig lighter is.
Gotta fiddle with it a bit but it does come off.
Then look upward and there is a bar with 2
screws in it. Unscrew those, get a flat thin object
to pop a few clips outta the dash, then pull as
hard as you can. The dash won't break Trust me.
It's a pain in the *** tho. That's it.

Actually, on my 02 its pretty hard to get the cig lighter panel out without removing the console and sliding it back a bit, and on the 03's I beleive the console and cig lighter is one big peice.....I dont have any specifics to help with removal though....ask your Honda dealer, or just start taking s**t apart. Bah just realized what I said in this post was in that DIY anyway.
Just look around for screws and clips and take em all out
That always works

On my 02 I just yanked that cig lighter out really hard came out nice.

i sat in an 03 civic last night and actually looked at that part. yeah, i see how the console extends into that cig. lighter plug cover. so you will have to remove the console to get at the head unit. then it looks like it should follow the DIY for the most part. search for console in tech stuff and you'll get some threads that will help give you an idea of what's involved.

Just thought I would clear this up. I went to the my Honda dealership and they actually took the cig. lighter part out for me. All you need to do is pry the plastic part around the manual shifter off and then unscrew two bolts that holds the trim on. Take the trim off and then follow the DIY.

I tried taking mine out today per the DIY, but it almost seems as if the last two steps skip something? One picture shows removing the two screws, the next looks like it jumped to where the controls were pulled out....anyone have some more specific instructions or pictures?

Just pull the whole console out. Its basically all screws. From where u took the two screws out from the bottom stick ur hand there and get to the back and jsut push it forward. The whole thing will jsut pop out cuz its just clips.
