Does your front upper strut have bearings?
I havent been able to find out, but I'm curious to know if the 2001's came with bearings for the upper front strut to turn on like my 2002 does. I seen some pics of the 2001 and it didnt look like bearings. Again I'm just curious if this was a design change from Honda and if this is why some peeps have noisy front suspensions.

i'm sure it does.. cause how else would the suspension turn..
i have an 02 and have a noisy suspension too.. noisy suspension is mainly caused by an improper install.. it can usually be solved by using spring isolators and aligning the top perch correctly. there's a tsb on using spring isolators too

Ahh thanks. I saw some pics and what looked to be a big greased up washer of some sort rather then a bearing pack that the strut spun on. Maybe it was just a crappy pic dunno.

my 2001 has the big greased up washers you are talking about no bearing here.
It uses the upper mount as a male piece and a plastic disc as a female piece. they just slide left to right with some of that blue grease stuff in between as lube.
My fronts are quiet no probs.

So my eyes werent deceiving me! heh. Thanks for the reply. Makes me wonder why Honda switched over to the bearing design.. maybe lower maintenance and less problematic? Guessing here. Thanks again.

ya i think the bearing design makes more sense. I have noticed the couple of time i've had it apart that they are prone to getting dirt in there. Sorry no pics but if you look at ground controls pic of thier front set up you can see the upper mount and how it has the male portion I think you are able to see the female portion also in that pic but it is sitting on the spring. Its pretty thin.
I've got a 2001 EX coupe and before I switched to 2002 upper strut mounts and bearings, my Ground Control set-up would pop all the time. Now, with the higher quality bearing assembly, I never have any noise.
Official word on the 03 suspension is that for 2003 Honda changed the design of the upper bearing and cap, which is what prevents any 02 or 01 springs and struts from makin a fit. I was told that I'd have to switch my upper bearings and cap on my struts with the ones form an 01 or 02. Anyone know where I can get them used or for cheap? Dealer parts cost bank.

who told you that? and cap meaning the upper top mount where the spring goes?
cause even if they changed the bearing, doesnt mean they changed the diameter of the springs..
i saw on someones member page that he has eibach sportlines in his 03..

guys, i posted long ago regarding changes in the suspension from 2001 ~ 2003.
the 2002 and 2003 didn't change at all, but the 2002 is different from the 2001. refer to this page I made for the R&D team at B+G:

this shows the difference between the 2001 and the 2002-2003 bearing rings

On the 2001 there's what looks like a plastic ring bearing between the top strut mount to the car and the top spring cover and this sometimes gets dirty or damaged due to pot hole vibration.
I've just had these replaced on my car and my steering alghnment is now perfect. They're only $8 for the pair, so if your wheel alighnment shop is having problems setting the steering perfectly it could be this.
