ECU for Turbocharging... (Grey?)
ECU for Turbocharging... (Grey?)
If I go with a standalone ECU like Haltech E6K, I'll have to remove my check engine light, and I'll lose the immobilizer security functionality won't I?
I'm also thinking about having Hondata flash the stock ECU with new base maps (accounting for larger fuel pump and injectors) -- this way I get to keep all of the stock ECU functionality and let the stock ECU control everything, even under boost. Would this work? Can the stock MAP sensor handle up to 8-10psi of boost?
For the custom turbo setups that already exist, how is ignition timing retarded? I know that eveyone is using additional injectors with a microfueler controller for additional fuel under boost, but what are people doing about ignition timing under boost?
I'm hoping to do a turbo setup using a mitsu 16G and larger fuel injectors (and pump) and have the ECU control everything -- extra fuel and retarded ignition under boost. What do you think of that design?

Not sure about the immobilizer on the AEM... some cars lost it, some not. Most have lost it though.
The Haltech has basic on board diagnostics, and could be used with the check engine light, but not as extensively, very few things would trip it unlike with the stock ecu.

Okay... so my shop talked to Hondata and heard the same thing: nothing for our cars yet.
Since I don't want to lose my immobilizer, I guess I'll do what other people are doing.
So I'll go with 2 extra injectors, a larger pump, Missing Link Valve, and I'm also going to go with the GReddy e-Manage system to control the extra injectors and retard ignition under boost.
Is this a sound design?
