somethings wrong with my civic :-(

I have 2k1 ex 5spd with 33000miles. And recently i noticed that my car was losing power. it accelerates like it's towing heavy load. i know that civic doesn't have a neck snapping acceleration, but i know what's normal and what's not and this is NOT normal. I haven't racing or abusing my car. I thought my clutch was slipping, but it definitely grabs like the day i bought it, so what do u think is wrong with my car? til this day all i've done was just change oil, filter, and airfilter. my car is stock, any ideas?

Well, definately take it into Honda before your warranty expires. Sometimes my Civic will bog down, and I have no idea what the problem is. Some days it's peppy and ready to go, but on others it feels like it's half asleep.

That is EXACTLY how i feel. I drive same road every single day, but for past week or so car feels like it's struggling and "half asleep". Anyways how am i gonna tell dealer about my situation, just tell them about loss of power? and what are they gonna do about it? i don't want dealer to tear my car down to pieces just to tell me everything is okay.....

Sometimes the hamster inside gets sick during the winter months. But seriously, I know how you feel. It's like driving a different car everyday. If you had an intake I would say clean the filter. It may just be bad plugs. I know the manual says change them every 110,000mi but that seems like a long time. Also, do you use gas with techron additive? If not you may have deposits on your valves or clogged fuel injectors. Try getting a bottle of techron additive from an auto parts store and pour into the gas on your next fillup. These are just things you would do for a tune-up, but it may help.

Try paying attention to the wheather temperture and the humidity on the days you say the car is sluggish. This time of year we have some cool days, cold days, and some warm days. You can tell the difference in performance..

Late reply...but it's completely random...at least for me. Hell, even if you go from 30deg. to 40deg. pushing the pedal to the floor shouldn't make THAT much of a difference.

Yea, I agree. If it is a pretty big difference something isn't right. LOL

Mine was becoming slow too..but then someone told me to get a Bottle of Chevron Techron Concentrate at the Chevron gas station and I did.. So I put this stuff in..and..WOW..my car totally accelerated a LOT smoother and a lot faster..this stufff..cleans out the fuel injectors and it REALLY WORKS..so next time u go to a Chevron gas station..look for a bottle of CHEVRON TECHRON CONCENTRATE FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER..it actually works..about $8-10..
