i was just wondering if the injen heat shield is worth buying

Does it make a difference in performance?
Is it worth getting one?

Thanks in advance for the help

CapYoda has a spectacular aura aboutCapYoda has a spectacular aura about
doesn't do anything for a SRI injen.

I suppose the only thing its good for is acting as a splashguard.. and even then, its not worth the price.

dont get it.

I have one for a splash guard for my injen cai. It doesnt affect performance. If you put it on a short ram it would really serve no purpose because you'll still be sucking in hot air either way. Its good for a cold air though. It will keep water from splashing up on the filter. I'd say its a good investment for this because the only other option would be the bypass valve which is also $45 and only works when the filter is fully submerged.

The way I look at it, a cold air is pointless. the air on the way up passes the rad and other hot engine components (Basically the air becomes hot!?!) The only way I see that the sheild would work is if it repelled water from coming up from under the car and into the intake? Worth it, your choice!

ok man... NO WAY will a heat shield help you with water... damage DOES NOT come from splashes, it comes from submerssion when you ingest water into the intake... water logged engine = dead engine... ANYONE running cold air w/o bypass valve is DUMB AND CHEAP... $40 to save your ride, it doesnt get better than that.... and just in case everyone ever thinks about it.. ive had CAI on ALLLLLLL my cars before my 2k2, but hey guys, i have a SRI now, why??? you ask why?? because in case you didnt notice, we have freaking PLASTIC intake manifolds... air will be hot NO MATTER WHAT!!!! newsflash to most i guess.. just basic car facts... i've seen dynos on 2k1's and up.. SRI and CAI make SAME power... maybe, and i say maybe a .5-1hp difference, but NOT worth the money or trouble... just thought i would put an end to this SRI vs. CAI crap for our cars.. its all about prefeerences....:
