Popping noise from front of car
Popping noise from front of car
Okay...the other day I was leaving my driveway and as I climbed my driveway and got to the end and rotated my steering wheel, I heard this aweful metal pop from the front of the car. This crap kinda weirded me out, but not even half as much as when I was in Atlanta recently and had to turn around in a parking lot near a driver's license registration center. While doing a U-turn in that parking lot, I heard the same loud pop and half the people standing in line infront of the building all turned and stared at my car. $hit man, if they can hear it from that far, it's got to be bad
. So the next day I took my car in recently to the Honda shop (after hearing the sound several other times) and took one of the technicians for a test drive to see if I could reproduce the sound, but it did not occur again during the test drive. I was even so desperate as to go to a parking lot and do very quick loops and s-maneuvers around islands in the parking lot, lol. Well, when I got back to the shop, he said he'd look at it and it'd be ready by lunch. So, I receive a phone call around 2:00 p.m. and he tells me that there is nothing wrong with the car...and I tell him that I want that in writing so that if anything goes wrong and something breaks that's causing the popping noise, then they'd have to fix it for free. But has anyone else here had any problems with a popping noise from the front of the car?
poping noise? im going to take a wild jab and say a bubble in your hydro. line for power steering so maybe it was just a one time thing
have you recently put in coilovers or the koni adjustables? if so then that noise might just be the springs or struts settling again. i have that same noise when i turn the wheel. it should go away after a week or so. but if it's not the springs and struts then i have no idea what it is.
I have neuspeed sports on my car and i get a small popping noise from the front if i turn the wheel without moving. Nothing really loud though. I also get a clanking noise from the back passenger side too. I have yet to find an answer to what this is. I think it's my (stock) exhaust clanking on something.
My car is completely stock. And yah, I've been pretty rough with my car at times...including using the handbrake on a bare dirt surface to slide and going offroad to get to my girlfriend's father's house from her mother's house. Oh..and popping the clutch at 7000 rpms for the craziest burnouts
. I might end up doing modifications later on...but probably just stuff that'll increase engine durability.

get your cv joints checked man....geez I can't believe this many people have responded to the "clicking" problem and haven't mentioned cv joints hahahahaha....do you people even know what they are??
your cv joints drive the damn car basically....how much mileage is on the car?? when were the last time the cv boots were checked??? a cv joint is basically a driveshaft for front wheel cars....when the boot goes, the grease goes, then the bearings go, then the clicking starts, then the click/shaking in the steering wheel starts, then the car won't move....why...cause the cv joint failed....this can go on for about 5k after start of clicking to 20 k after start of clicking depending on how hard the car is driven....just get them looked at.....they probably need replacing anyway.
