"honda announces their newest personal watercraft: the 2001 civic"
Well, on my way home today, and what do you know, its raining torrents. I get to a dip in the road and look here, its a lake. So im saying to myself, I can make it thru. So go foward and see a Dodge Ram 1500 next to me with water covering the entire tire. I keep going. I see water running off the hood. The wipers struggle to keep up, and all of a sudden...
I drive out the other side.
Thank god for slow shipping. I ordered my AEM cai 2 weeks ago and it still isnt here, so I just saved my car.

im just curious, when you saw the ram with water up top of the tires, what possessed you to "keep going" i mean god bless you for making it through it without much damage, but im just curious what was running through your head as you decided to drive through it.

Probably the fact that if he would've stopped he would've been fvcked! His car would've gotten stuck and he'd have been SOL.[hr]

You never want to let go of the gas in that situation. If you do then you stall. You have to try and get thru it. If you stop and try to go back you are screwed. Momentum is your friend in that situation. Trust me on that one.
well i guess im just cautious enough to not drive through a "puddle" i have no clue on the depth, so wouldnt know from experience the methods in which to saturate your car, but its good to know we do have a pro on this stuff on the forum!

Yeah dude, every time there was a huracane in PR I'd go driving with my friends. We learned never to stop in a puddle. It just became obvious to us after ppl who go stuck gave interviews and all of them had one thing in common, they stoped and tried to back out. Yup, it don't work that way!
i had a situation like that but not so much water. i was in my first car, a 92 subaru legacy wagon. i put it in reverse, drove back for a bit, then floored it, and kept my pedal down while going through the pond. only thing i had to worry about was water in the exhaust, so i kept the revs up to use the exhaust pressure to keep the water out. that was my rational at the time, and it did work. needless to say i hydroplaned the whole way through, lucky no other cars around me.
