Air Suspension

I have heard a lot of stories of how smooth air bags or air rods ride. From the cars I have seen with air suspension they look to bouncy. How many people here have been in a car with air suspension. I don't mean a car with the factory air suspension like a lincoln or caddy. I am talking about the aftermarket kits out there. Some people have said that if you close your eyes you should feel like sitting in a luxury car. For people who have been in a car with air suspension does it really ride that good? Like better than stock.

I am asking because I don't want to spend so much money and not like the ride. I am deciding now if I should get air bags with the strut or air cylinders. I am looking for the best ride. I have heard that bags can pop and that cylinders will ride rough. I was also told if you get accumulators for you cylinders it should ride better but then it won't go as low or be as fast as it would be without the accumulators. Can someone who has air suspension please help me out. I just don't want to be bouncing around everywhere.

Yeah, I would like to know also. I've heard the exact same thing, that the ride is good. But then everytime I've seen a car with air suspension, they're bouncing everywhere.

Well I went to a shop today and the cars they had there they were working on so I didn't get to ride in it. They told me that it should be better than stock. I don't know if they were lying or telling the truth. I'm thinking it should ride good if everywhere I go I see a car on bags.

It rides smooth...sometimes. My friend has air suspension on his 2k1. I rode in it. When your ridin' at regular height it's cool. But when u lower the back and raise the front, it rides like ***. It can be pretty convenient over speedbumps though.

CivicPunker17, when will your car have the air ride installed? I really want to know how your car rides. Are you putting accumulators on it or just the cylinders and what size gallon tanks and hoses are you going to have?

toolow...i finally got the rear bags in the mail yesterday and got the schematics too. me and my brother in law are doing the install this wednesday as long as nothing comes up. i got 2 compressors, 2 tanks (u should see the paintjob on them...), 3/8 inch air line, 1 quad fast valve, and the fun little 10 switch box for front back side side. i didnt get accumulators because thers bags on all 4 corners and not cylinders. so by next friday im thinkin ill be riding on air. and of course ill post pics and how i think of it in members rides.

Hey civicpunker17, you're getting the kit from KMW Performance. The one made by Chassistech right? I thought that it was air cylinders for our cars. Can you post picks of what the bags look like.

the whole thing was about 2 grand shipped. and yeah its from chassistech and i thought they used cylinders too. but the took an extra week to custom make bags on the rear so i was happy when that came to my door instead. i definetly didnt wanna throw down extra cash for accumulators.
