D.I.Y Shortened Shifter
now i know what your saying this should be in tech forum, but it's not a serious D.I.Y. unless of course you want to do it.
Well anyrate i installed my Dc Sports Short Shift Adapter, and while the console was apart i decied to shorten the actual shifter
Heres the D.I.Y
Tools needed:
Sawsall
Drill bit as big as shifter and drill
Step 1. After installing shortshifter get your Sawsall and cut the shifter right below the threads like so.

Step 2. Then take your drill and drill into your shiftknob so it will fit on your shifter. make sure its pretty close to the size of the shifter or it will fall off. mine is on there pretty damn tight.

Step 3. put everything back together and have fun with your new and improved, and shorter, shifter.

Would it be better to run a die down the shifter so its threaded (not sure what the thread pitch is on the shifters, but it could be found out easily), or does the rod bulge out too much below the threads to be able to thread the lower portion.

you could thread it but i am to lazy to do it. its pretty much the same diamater till you get to the bend. anyway i have to turn the thing and pull quite hard to get it off as it is so i didnt bother
i thougth about doing that, but i ran a threadless shifter for awhile and it was the absolute worst thing i did to my car. i dont even know where that **** is, prolly in teh trash.
i did something similar tho, i just made 2 cuts them welded the threads back on.

here you can see the original height

marked off where to cut

then weld on teh threads to teh shortened stick. lost 2 inches of height, which was just enough to make it a b i t c h to put teh boot back on.

a lame pic, but its the most effective to show jsut how short it really is. sure makes drink holder access much easier
if you dont mind not having threads tho, you are gonna have an EASY time picking any old aftermarket ****, for sure....

I would have just paid $30 more than the DC and get the Revo.....Its a shorter stick with a relocated cable point(what DC's adapter does)......And the Revo is like the OEM quality......Just my $.02..........
dammm talk about mutilating your car. Dude just buy the revo treat yourself you deserve it. don't forget the bushings and grease
