Re: oil leak passenger side

Don't change the valve, change the gaskets, get the gaskets from the dealer. Its only 2 bolts

Update: 2012 Civic Si not 2 bolts. 3 x 10 mm short bolts hold a separate sensor wiring mounting bracket attached to the oil valve control unit and 4 x 10 mm long hold the actual control unit onto the head. After taking off the under cowl panel there’s rather limited access to the bolts holding the units. The leak seems to be coming from the lower bolt on the pass side. Got a replacement gasket from Honda and will replace it tmrw. Hoping the valve separates from the head easily. Would be easier if I could unclip the sensor harness from the bracket but I can’t figure out how these two clips slide off. Cheers

Re: oil leak passenger side

Update #2 Swapped seal for new Honda part. Still leaks.. gonna walk on the wild side and try torquing to 25ft lbs instead of the spec 20ft lbs. Hope the bolts don’t snap. As a backup will get a dealer quote to freak me out. Here are a few pics. Cheers
Still leaks at these points. Why would there be oil in the chamber between the arrows. The chamber is outside the seal so it seems there should be no oil in there.

Make sure the mating surfaces are absolutely smooth, try to torque it as evenly as possible.
