Fouling all plugs

96 d16y7

pulled all plugs, every one carbon fouled
Pulled throttle body and cleaned iacv, it didn’t need it. Found oil, or maybe fuel/carbon mix at the bottom of the throttle body. Checked the breather side of the pcv hose, it was suctioning properly. What is the suspected problem?
Just put cat less exhaust on maybe 5,000 miles ago, spacer on the o2 sensor which is fouled too, zip tied the downstream o2 and left unhooked bc I’ve assumed it’s only function is telling the computer if the cat is clogged or not. Any help?

Re: Fouling all plugs

Blowby passed the piston rings can push oil out the valve cover vent and into the intake.

preciate it. I’m planning a compression test. Would that cause all the plugs to foul tho? Seems to me like it s over fueling

If its bad enough it will. Doubt its fuel. Can you get someone to follow you and see if there's smoke coming out the tailpipe?

tailpipe is clear of smoke. I’ll check back if the compression test is good, because I’m stumped. Pcv is working

I'd bet money there's a considerable amount of soot in the tailpipe, though. Both my '95 and '01 burned substantially but never visually.

it is pretty sooty, been hard for me to gauge since it’s only been a few weeks since taking off the cat lol

Sounds plausible. I've been catless for years on my FRS and it's not that bad. Burns no oil.

Just change the plugs and see how it goes. I might've completely missed it somewhere but when were they last changed?

If it's fouling that quickly, it's not a blow-by issue. You're running way rich.

Unless you only ran it for 5 minutes and it was fine. I'm extremely sleep-deprived.

This isn't necessarily your fix but a bike of mine would foul plugs every 15 minutes or so because the map sensor had failed. This could be the same, if it even has one. I don't know the 6th gen intimately.

In the race car, I agree. In the daily CRV, I can't handle the exhaust smell every time I stop and the wind is blowing back to front.

Just realized my typo. Should’ve said “I’d”. Went back to the factory downpipe because of the smell lol

i ran it for more than 5 min. Took a trip around the block and sounds the exact same as it did before I changed the plugs. Did an oil change today just check for anything blown up lol. While I was at it I checked the pcv hose bc it felt extra stiff, it was very clogged and the inlet to the intake was too, cleaned em both out but no change. Sprayed carb cleaner around the intake gasket and hoses, didnt hear it rev up. Idk, still can’t get a cel to trip
