I have a set of Gold Line Springs (1.5" drop all around). My question is about springs in general, however. Here is the problem, lately my springs have been making noise when ever I make right turns. I took it to where they were installed and the guy said that my springs are loose because they are shorter than the stock ones. He recomended me new "shorter" shocks/struts to make up for the extra space. Is this solution valid? I've never heard of such problem and most spring manufactures make their springs to exactly replace your stock ones but just with the desired drop. What do you guys think and have you ever had loose spring rubbing problem. I saw that they were loose because he litteraly grabbed the springs and turned them without much force.

Rep Power: 0 when they installed the springs, they might have not aligned the top of the spring and the mount correctly. that is why you hear that sound.

Rep Power: 0 Who the hek makes Gold Line springs? I 've never heard of them and I have been doing suspension upgrades since '97..
You should always stick with the big name brands and the most popular like Eibarch, H&R Springs and Neuspeed are ok too (Neuspeed are usually H&R). The last 12 mos or so the market has been flooded with cheap crappy spring makers and everyone and their grandmother are trying to make money with their so-called "sports" springs. Do not buy these springs! Most of these companies do not have the ISO 9001 quality & design assurance certification.
What has happened to you can only be 1 of 2 things. The springs were installed properly or because of their crappy design do not exactly fit your car, or the stock mounting hardware 100%.
There 's no such thing as shorter shocks for our car except for the Konis which are slightly shorter than the OEM ones and noone else makes shocks for our Civics.. yet. That is also a very poor excuse and the guy is full of it. Most "street" springs are made to use with the stock shocks!! Unless this particular manufacturer indicates to use aftermarket shocks on their web site or on the box the springs came in.
Here's my suggestion and you probably won't like it: Take those darn things off your car before you get hurt, and try and get your money back or eat the cost and get the Eibach Prokit or the H&R OE sports or H&R sports if you don't want to go with GC coilovers, which are made by Eibach and allow you to adjust the height of the car any time you want.
Installing springs alone is not a good thing and your stock shocks will go fast and they won't be covered by the warranty. Your car will also be bouncy and "bunny hop" without heavy duty shocks. Try and save up for the Konis and do the job right all at once.

Rep Power: 0 vtecharry: I know you mean good, but Gold Lines are actually pretty respectable. They are the only springs that come with a lifetime no sag warranty and are indorsed by the NHRA. I hate to break it to you, but I have a friend that knows the guy where the springs are made down here in southern california and he said that all those other springs are basically the same and just spray painted a different color and put them in seperate boxes. I love my goldlines I just think the guy who installed them has never done them on a 2k1 before so he didn't know what he was doing. I'm going to go to a shop that specializes in lowering to see what they have to say.

Rep Power: 417 someone here has said that its caused by the springs popping out of the upper mount... you might want to try turning your wheel from one side to the other while having someone look at the springs...

Rep Power: 0 Although I agree with your comments regarding a lot of "cheap crappy spring makers", I have a real problem with you generalizing all spring companies. Gold Line is not manufacturing springs off shore(unlike "cheap crappy spring makers" are). All Gold Line springs are built here in Calif. to the same stringent tolerances used by Eibach. Before creating Gold Line, I worked in the Eibach Product Developent Dept. I do all the engineering on all Gold Line designs and I hate to burst your bubble but, Gold Line springs are as well built as humanly possible. It's really not my problem that we are unfamiliar to you. However, I felt compelled to register and give you an education on spring manufacturing. I've been in this industry for over 20 years and have seen many spring companies come and go, Gold Line is not one of them. If you would like to discuss manufacturing procedures, please feel free in contacting me in the office. We will also have a booth at the upcoming NOPI Nationals in Plamdale, CA on Jume 22 & 23 for anybody who is interested.

let me just complement you on what a great job you have done on creating your springs, I love em!! Just tell me one thing, what is the actual drop on them supposed to be? cause like in the rear, i have no wheel gap, and in the front about a finger's worth, thats a lil more than 1.75" i think
