Leak down test: must engine be cold?

Will it work to perform a cylinder leak down test while engine is still warm, say after 2 hours of rest after being driven for 30 miles? Or must the engine be cold? Would one give more definitive results than the other?

Warm engine may show less leaks because of the expansion of metal
