2005 Civic LX feels like rev limiter kicks in at 3500 rpm?
2005 Civic LX feels like rev limiter kicks in at 3500 rpm?
Hi there - hope someone here can help.
My 2005 civic lx 4 door 5 spd is acting up. I just did an alternator and some brake line replacement after the car sat for a year. now the check engine light came on and now the car feels like I hit a redline and the rev limiter kicks in at 3500 rpm. It will do this in all gears.
If I keep the rpm below 3500 it runs really nicely.
I jumped the diagnostic connector and I get 8 short flashes and then 9 long ones. I guess that's either code 8 and code 9 or code 89.
Can anyone tell me what the codes mean?
Thanks for your help.
HB

Use a real scanner, they're like $20.
then post the code numbers.
Did you change any sensors recently?

you can either stop at a car part store and they read for free, or get a scanner dongle in amazon that connects to your phone, use torque app

Did you get the all the alternator bolts tight? It is very common for people to miss the one on the bottom causing a poor ground for the alternator.
