Alternate oil filter for 92-95 Civics?
Alternate oil filter for 92-95 Civics?
I have a 95 CX with an 8 valve 1.5 engine and 249xxx miles. I just changed oil (again), and was wondering if anyone has been able to source a double length filter for these cars. I currently have a Wix 21334 filter on it, with M20-1.5 threads and 2.475in dia gasket (standard sizes). On old Chevy trucks there is a spin on filter that holds another quart of oil. I am hoping there is a filter for these cars that is twice as long, since there is plenty of room behind the engine. Filter manufacturers are not much help, no cross reference is available using the thread and gasket size as searchable fields.

Why? There is no downside to having more oil in the lubrication system. Not trying to go farther between changes. If I can add 1/2 quart by simply using a larger filter, the engine has that much more lubrication capacity.

Nothing that will add that much. If you're serious about this you could see if anyone makes a larger capacity oil pan for the d series, or weld one up yourself

plenty of things in the internet, but main ones are:
the oil filter drains when engine is stopped. You will need to overfill otherwise your engine will starve while running.
since the filter drains when the car is not running, takes longer to fill the filter when starting the engine

and more. I will write this off as internet mith
