P1362 code keeps coming up after TDC sensor replacement.
P1362 code keeps coming up after TDC sensor replacement.
Hi I’m hoping someone can help me with this. So I have a 2001 civic dx 1.7 with 186kms and about a couple months ago while driving home from work my check engine light came on and car went into “limp mode” where power was reduced. Since it was the hottest day of the summer I assumed the engine overheated and caused the sensor to fail. I shut it down for 20mins then started it up again and was able to drive home( was only a 10-15min drive from where the car gave out.) I had my friend connect his reader and it gave me the P1362 code for TDC no signal( he erased the code for me). So I went to Lordco and bought another sensor and valve cover gasket kit and replaced everything. Everything seemed fine for about a month then the same thing happened again. The engine was throwing a lot of heat when it would go into limp mode so I thought there could be an issue with the radiator or thermostat so I replaced them both. Old rad had sediment build up at bottom so it wasn’t a total waste. Car ran fine for another week then same thing happened again, driving home, power starts to surge a bit then limp mode and P1362 code pops up. Not sure what’s going on so if anyone has any ideas or has been through a similar situation id like to hear them.

Was it a Honda OEM sensor or a 3rd party sensor? 3rd party sensors tend to crap out/not play nice
Re: P1362 code keeps coming up after TDC sensor replacement.
I’m not sure if it was OEM or not. I tried to call the parts place to look back in the sale history but the guy made it seem like it was impossible. I paid about 85$ for it though. Btw I YouTube’d how to check for voltage and continuity from the sensor plug and that all seemed fine. I’m curious on what caused it to fail in the first place.

Well called Honda and they had 1 TDC sensor in stock so I’ll have it in place tomorrow night. I’ll update with the results. Thanks for the input everyone!
