Custom Rear Console
Aight, Ive said this before but havent had enough time or money to start. But tomorrow Im gonna take a giant leap and begin to customize a rear console. Im gonna make my new 6x9s point toward like 45 Degrees toward each other and then another 45 degrees toward the cab, so hopefully it will be tight. And then Im gonna put a clear 3rd brake light lens in there also. Since I couldnt find a perfect one made for my car, I had to search through other parts to find something. What I came out w/ was a 94-95 Honda Accord Clear Bumper Lens. So hopefully Ill have some sort of a euro look toward the outside of my car, definitely something unique. Im sure other people have done it, but not around where I live, so hopefully if I get it perfect it will be so tight. I dont know when Ill have pics on, Im starting tomorrow, Memorial Day so hopefully I can get at least half of it done and then get some pics of it w/ a digital camera from my friends. If not then it might be a couple more days til I get some pics up. But hopefully it will still look pretty tight. Stayed tuned.
clear center brake light is WAY illegal. (at least it is in california) so is just plain removing it >.< so youll just have to live with that, or not be techincally street legal.......
id also worry about destorying imaging with arranging your speakers like that, rearfill was not meant for the rear passengers, it was made for raising the soundstage (technically)
have you thought about just rebuilding the panel you already have, maybe throw some fiberglass on thre, or have it paintmatched to your trim color or something? that would be cool!
i dont think any of the other work would be worth it tho.........

I dont know about in California, but here in Arkansas I think it should be aight as long as I have a red bulb. Another thing though, my rear console was messed up because of the person who installed my system grounded the amp to my speaker, so it burnt up the speaker and the rear console caught fire as well. So I was pretty screwed at that, and the price for like a rear console from Honda was like 500 and Im not gonna pay that. And another thing, I dont have any rear passengers cuz I dont have any back seats, I already took them out, and come the end of the summer, it will all by custom molded system back there. But thanks for the input hopefully I should have pics soon
you suck, man, i thought about doing that, but decided teh fabrication would be too much. it sounds like such a good project tho!
you gonna get 6 12's, or do 4 15's? =D
a guy here has the 6 12 thing going, but did such a por job, and even used RF subs, looks like total
if your serious about doing that, ever thought about putting the seats back in? seriously, like hollow them out and make them a cover, THAT way, your car looks total stealth, then you can yank teh wireframe out and you got total show back under there =D
if your gonna do ALL this, why run rear speakers at all? why not put in a fiberglass shell over the rear deck (i dunno how much glare that will be) then make a custom molding, that way, you can also use ANY center breakpanel you want, since its all fabrication anyways!
your getting a ripoff, tho, cause at MY dealership, a new rear deck is $150. still kinda a rip, but i was looking into this too but hell if I am gonna pay that for just that panel. rediculous, even door panels are $154 each >.<
i think youll be hell bent to find something nicer than fiberglass paint matched to the car tho (at least in my opinion)
FINALLY some ppl here doing cool MAJOR projects! this is the kinda stuff we need to really get this forum up and moving!
definitely wanna see pics of the process, for sure =D, see if you'll kick my @ $ $ in fab skillz
