Power windows issues 2001
Power windows issues 2001
Hey guys, first post here so forgive me if I screw up somewhere
I’ve got a 2001 Honda Civic (EX I believe) and the drivers power window stopped working one day. I’ve replaced the regulator, the motor, and the switch to no avail, and I don’t believe it’s the switch because I’ve already returned it once to the site I got it from. The OEM switch makes a sound when I pull the switch up and I feel the motor trying to turn when it’s at max height so I know it’s not the motor. I’ve opened the door panel to check the wires and it seems like there was a small crack in the insulation in one wire, but it wasn’t anything worth worrying about. My fuses check out alright, and my previously working windows still roll up and down (both passengers side). I’ve tried disassembling the switch itself too but it didn’t seem like anything was wrong. Is there anything at all I can check, or does anyone have any idea what it could be? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT
I forgot to add, when I push down for the drivers window, nothing happens. No sound, no noise whatsoever. Not even from the switch.

Re: Power windows issues 2001
Power comes in and goes out fine since your other windows are working.
You said you replaced the motor, did you replace the entire frame with motor attached?
Did you replace with a OEM Honda or a junkyard or the cheapest thing on eBay?
Did you test the motor before you installed it in the car?

Sorry, can’t figure out how to quote you guys from mobile, but I’ve checked the wires in the door hinge where they flex and it seemed fine, only the insulation on one wire had a small, small crack in it. I’ve checked each wire for continuity with a voltmeter, and it seems like everything is connected and grounded. Any way I can check for sure with a voltmeter? I’ve tried multiple wiring diagrams but I can’t really figure them out.
The motor and regulator were replaced at the same time, bought from AutoZone. When I replaced the motor and regulator they came at a preset height, but when I put them in, they only rolled up and nothing happened when I pushed down.
The switch was bought online from carparts.com.

Re: Power windows issues 2001
Did you get this fixed ?
The passenger window of my 2005 Civic coupe goes down, but won't close. When I jumpered the motor it rolled up. The motor and regulator is a new Dorman unit.
I got a bunch of used master switches for $5 each from a salvage yard. I don't think all of these switches can be bad. Does the window control unit need to be reset ?
