Harmonic Balancer/Crankshaft Pulley - Salvage or Replace?
Harmonic Balancer/Crankshaft Pulley - Salvage or Replace?
So this upcoming week I'm gonna have to do a valve adjustment, timing, power steering, and alternator/A/C belts, & water pump replacement. The lynch-pin in all of this (if the rust-frozen PS pump doesn't stop me) is likely to be the crankshaft pulley. I'm gonna rent the Honda/Acura hexagonal crow's-foot socket for the crank pulley, but I took a look at this thing through the wheelwell, and oof...thing is so unbelievably rusty it looks like it's been dipped in crushed-up raisin bran. Now I could order a new one off RockAuto (Dayco's offering is supposedly reliable), or attempt to wirebrush + rustoleum the rust off of the factory pulley. I figured I'd ask here first for input before I go throwing parts at this thing unnecessarily. Thoughts?
