crankshaft damper/harmonic balancer wiggles??
crankshaft damper/harmonic balancer wiggles??
i have a 95 jdm d series civic engine and recently the harmonic balancer started to wiggle and it threw the belts off. i was able to drive home and i have not driven it since. my question is would this be the balancer that is the problem or some kind of crank shaft issue. i have since bought a new balancer and belts but have not started the job. has any one had this problem?? im hoping that it is just the balancer that needs replaced. any knowledge is greatly appreciated!!

Re: crankshaft damper/harmonic balancer wiggles??
The balancer is made of 2 separate pieces with a strip of rubber bonded between the inner and outer sections. So yes, the pulleys can come loose from the inner hub.
Take yours apart and see what happened.
If yours had the bolt come loose and that's what caused your pulley to be loose, that can damage the crankshaft.
