When starting the car and driving and gauge reads normal, I have hot and cold air coming out of the floor vent, if I switch to vents in the dash or defroster the air is hot, after driving for about 20 min or so it seems to work ok, coolant levels are spot on

Not quite sure it’s possible to have both hot and cold air comming out of the same vent... while indeed true, it’s like a faucet in that both hot and cold go in, but a blended result comes out..

Now you very well may have the warm air blowing out of the vent also stirring up the very cold air from under the dash so you have cold air moving around under your feet while heated airis going.. remember cold air wants to stay as low as possible in the cabin.

no, this is not the first winter, but we've had a very cold snap hit us here in Pa, you might have something their with the cold air, I've just never experienced that with any other car that I've driven
