01 Civic bogging at 3000 rpms
Put a new motor in my Civic cranks up fine but when driving around 3000 rpms it's starts to bog bad . Feels like it's hitting red line . Any idea on what the issue could be . Thanks in advance

There's a good chance you forgot to plug a sensor in.
Just so everyone's on the same page, did you swap in the same model engine (D17A1 if you have an LX/DX, D17A2 if you have an EX). If you swapped in a D17A1 and your originally had a D17A2, your car will go into limp mode (rev limit ~4000 RPM) since the ECU isn't reading any VTEC signals. Just one thing that can cause that.
Nevertheless, if your check engine light is, in fact, on, do what sdaidoji said and get the code read. Report back with the code and we can help direct you on your next course of action.

Or... if you put a vtec engine into a lx or dx, it will lose power at that rpm range because the vtec selenoid needs to be switched on to move the valve timing to high rpm.
I don’t think it will create a code as the computer won’t understand why the engine has run out of breath.

If you put a NON-VTEC engine into a car that needs a VTEC engine, the original PCM does not like that.
What are the fault codes?
